thediscochef Posted August 5, 2023 Posted August 5, 2023 Got on more sandies, a channel cat, and a few little spotted bass, all throwing up shads. Bite went from 6am to 8am before everything was too deep to reach. Blanked the last couple days, felt nice to get bites. It's hot and the lake levels are dropping. Boo. Come on, autumn. Drop that mercury already 14 Quote

I just know I’ve caught the same 4-5 lb. bass now at least 14 times over a 4 year period from one specific small pond. Catch and immediate release works On the report side, I’m not going to lie. The first trip after @ol'crickety asked about blanking and one fish catches, I was a bit nervous when I first got out on the water. I was happy when I finally caught that first fish, and even happier when I caught the second ? All the pressure being off after that, I went on to catch 8 this evening running the same timing, bait and location as last night. High was 90 today, and forecasted for 91 tomorrow, so any trip I get in might be an evening one again. 16 Quote
Global Moderator TnRiver46 Posted August 5, 2023 Global Moderator Posted August 5, 2023 @thediscochef, nice fishes. Our mercury dropped a tad, high temp was 74 yesterday. Wish we could send that your way! 1 Quote

I'd take 95 just fine right now lol 1 Quote
Super User LrgmouthShad Posted August 5, 2023 Super User Posted August 5, 2023 @thediscochef yeah man, been sick of the heat. I will probably night fish tomorrow night. Random comment, just poking around on Navionics, I happened to see that the 5lber I caught a few weeks ago was not on a random point. There is a channel swing that runs into the side of the point. There's shell there too. 3 Quote
Dominat0r Posted August 5, 2023 Posted August 5, 2023 Got my fish earlier. Had to take the lady out this evening. Was only a little while out there but got bit quick and had to get ready. Streak lives on, tomorrow is headwaters and day 60!! Got him on the Carolina rig. 14 Quote
Dominat0r Posted August 5, 2023 Posted August 5, 2023 STREAK HAS REACHED 60 days!!! Was a good and H O T day at Headwaters. However, we did pretty well, about 20 fish total....all about 1-3lbs. It would have been more if it wasn't for the awful hot. Blue bird skies....oh my, could only fish about 5 hours before we starting to melt. Guess who was back at the spillway? Boat behind the fish ? First 2 were on carolina rig and the bottom 2 were on a swimbait/under spin. Got the rest on a mag zoom speed worm. 17 1 Quote

Woody B Posted August 5, 2023 Posted August 5, 2023 I slept in this morning. Got the the lake around 6. I caught a 3 1/2 pounder within my first dozen or so cast. A million or so casts (and a BUNCH of white perch) later I caught a dink. I'm not sure if I'm going tonight around midnight or waiting until tomorrow morning and going to the close by 1500 acre lake I never catch many at. 17 Quote
Super User Swamp Girl Posted August 5, 2023 Super User Posted August 5, 2023 They're only two, @Woody B, but they sure are purty fish. I'm going out this evening. Gonna fish a friend's pond. Two shorelines have homes and there is always fishing company, but it's still good fishing. Quote
CastingClinic Posted August 5, 2023 Posted August 5, 2023 Black buzzbait does it again. Flat with moderate millfoil and patches of lilypads. Worked the buzzbait through ally’s in the pads and this guy crushed it at the boat. 19 Quote

Jmurphy87 Posted August 5, 2023 Posted August 5, 2023 I have been absent for a while, currently homeless with the family but still going to work.
