I can cruise the aisles of the bait stores around here for ya along my work route. “Just doing some R&D boss!” 3 Quote

Maybe not the best choice for heavy mats, but light to medium cover there great. 2 Quote

Since last year they are down to 2 colors now. I own 3 of them, but even when they had more colors they didn’t have the one with a black bottom. I am trying to simplify my tackle system a little. Less colors is easier with choices and makes the tackle bag smaller. Currently have poppers, walking baits, ploppers, buzz baits, spinnerbaits, square bills, wake baits, lipless, frogs, terminal and plastics, a couple jigs and bladed jigs, along with the appropriate trailers. I also have 3 reels loaded with different lines and my tools, clippers and scale, getting heavy now lol. I am good to go though from top to bottom and that all fits in this. 2 Quote
IcatchDinks Posted June 11, 2023 Posted June 11, 2023 I had a devastating day yesterday. Wrote about it in a sperate post in Fishing Reports. Had a better day today. Started out with top-water. Only fish I caught on that was a very aggressive bluegill/pumpkinseed hybrid. I mean, look at the size of that lure. What was this guy thinking? Then I caught a dink largie. After about an hour of casting, I couldn't get anymore strikes on the top-water. So I switched to my trusty Rebel Wee-Craw crankbait. (I love those things. The weecraw has saved me from many a skunk. I keep three of them in my tacklebox at all times, and two of their deeper diving older brother.) And that did the trick. The last fish I hauled in for the day was a new PB for me: 2.1 lbs, 16 inches. And unlike yesterday, this hog didn't get away. All in all, I'd say it was a pretty good day. 14 Quote

I owned that bag for about a year until the side pocket linings tore out. I switched to this Ozark Trails backpack: https://www.walmart.com/ip/Ozark-Trail-Elite-Fishing-Tackle-Backpack-with-Bait-Cooler-Black/486216949 This thing has worked great for me so far. And a backpack is way easier to carry than a shoulder bag. 1 Quote

It's usually transmitted on Friday and Saturday nights, sometime after midnight. ? Silly comments are all I have to offer. The post spawn funk has me in a major slump. I can't catch anything worth mentioning day or night lately. Some much needed rain coming in tonight, I'll be out there in it winding a chatterbait around. Hopefully the low pressure and showers will get 'em chewing. 2 1 Quote

Thank you for the recommendation on the backpack, I appreciate it.I have had my bag for 3-4 years now, it’s starting to show signs of wear but it keeps going. I will probably get a backpack in the future. Although I have been downsizing quite a bit, I use to own way too much stuff. The problem is that I like to throw different things than most people, that’s how a collection starts. 1 Quote

Bass pro version is on sale right now for $59 and comes with 4 boxes. Check it out. Took it this weekend and it served me well. Time will tell if it holds up. Normally they are $90. The blue one they have for $30 seems much more flimsy. I spent the extra and got the 4 boxes. https://www.basspro.com/shop/en/bass-pro-shops-advanced-anglers-ii-backpack 2 Quote

He didn’t use it, now it’s full of soft plastics lol. Might just have to unload it and use it. The only problem is that I use 3700 size trays and you need a bag that accepts those with some room to spare. 1 Quote
Woody B Posted June 11, 2023 Posted June 11, 2023 The good news is I didn't get skunked today. The bad news is I only caught 2 Bass. The additional bad news is the one pictured was the BIG one. Even the Catfish I caught was small. I didn't catch several White Perch but didn't use any pixels on them. Shallow flats and points were full of fish yesterday. None today beyond White Perch. The 2 Bass I caught today were over 20 feet deep. 11 Quote

Super User Swamp Girl Posted June 11, 2023 Super User Posted June 11, 2023 @Woody B: Four times this year, I caught only one bass. Plus, I haven't caught a catfish for years and have never caught a white perch. So, the way I see it, you're twice the bass fisher that I am, many times the catfish fisher I am, and infinity times better at catching white perch than me. Now it is time for me to do this: 1 1 Quote
bp_fowler Posted June 11, 2023 Posted June 11, 2023 I’ve been fishing with my 15y/o son before but never specifically for bass. Started taking him this week and he did great the first time out! 20 Quote

Drawdown Posted June 11, 2023 Posted June 11, 2023 Caught a few in the middle of the day at a new pond. Zoom lizard Texas-rigged (Pumpkin-chartreuse tail), and an Old Purple Trick Worm on a drop shot. Fishing, 1996-style! 15 Quote
Super User DitchPanda Posted June 11, 2023 Super User Posted June 11, 2023 I hear ya buddy...I've been getting my a$% kicked at my local lake. Its by no means a bass factory- but I can usually catch a few. I went out both mornings this weekend and caught a grand total of 2 bass. 2 1 Quote
Super User T-Billy Posted June 11, 2023 Super User Posted June 11, 2023 I caught a pair of 1.5# LM in 3.5hrs of night fishing, then took a skunking after the lights came on yesterday morning. Brutal. We're getting our first rain in a while right now. Nothing heavy, just showers. It's gonna continue through the night, along with 6-10mph winds. I'm gonna get after them about 2am. Hopfully this mild front will jump start 'em. 3 Quote
Super User DitchPanda Posted June 11, 2023 Super User Posted June 11, 2023 Good luck. Hope you figure it out. 2 Quote
Super User Swamp Girl Posted June 12, 2023 Super User Posted June 12, 2023 I returned to this morning's bog where I caught my PB this morning. I fished two hours and landed 13 fish, a mix of pickerel and bass. The first bass weighed 2.57 pounds. The second bass hit a 7" green pumpkin Senko that was T-rigged and weightless. I don't know that I've ever fought a stronger bass. I made a point of keeping her out of the weeds, but man, that wasn't easy. You can see that she's almost 20 inches, but I didn't get a weight because my scale stopped working right when I tried to weigh her. Texas.gov length to weight chart says that she'd weigh 4.68 pounds at her length, but she's so thick, top and bottom, that I'm guessing she weighed five pounds. Now I am tired after fishing this morning (rising at three) and this evening and won't fish for a few days. Whew! 18 Quote
