Wrenched my shoulder yesterday...it's a bit better today but not enough to launch/land the F-9. So I did some shore fishing. Got one...it was a monster...fighting it on my Procyon L/F was a bear

That's an amazingly small fish. When I used to fish northwestern Ontario, if I caught a dink, I was thrilled and always photographed it.

Ya, it's probably from this spring's spawning.

I fish minnows on the Tennessee River, but that would be thrown overboard,

it's too little for smalllmouth. Maybe about right for sauger or crappie.

Problem is, Kent. It's illegal to use any 'game' fish as bait here in MN.

That includes sunnies, crappies, etc....

In Tennessee

A licensed sport angler (with all required licenses and permits) can harvest game fish

(including rainbow trout and sunfish) for use as bait using legal sport fishing methods.

That would be undersized for a keeper, not legal bait

Ya - different states, different laws on legal bait.

I stand corrected. Gamefish used for bait must still meet regulatory size

requirements. And MN Fisher makes a VERY IMPORTANT observation,

regulations vary among the states.

Took the yak out this morning and caught two dinks and this 14.75" on a Strike King white/chartreuse spinner without a trailer. Also caught a nice rock bass on a crappie jig head and a 2.75" Rage Swimmer.

Nice ones! Your rock bass is actually a war mouth . Could potentially be a rock bass dressed up in a war mouth costume tho

I just bought that yellow measuring board in your photo. I'm excited to use it! I also bought a new net. It's rubberized and it floats.

Tried a new little outlet this morning. Didn't catch any big ones, but it was a nice spot and caught a few little ones before I had to head to work.

Remote work day fishing session before logging on.

Whopper Plopper and Senko were what the river Smallies wanted today.

Can't give likes anymore for the day haha, but I just love that type of fishing.    Fish size always takes a back seat, not to mention river fish fight so much harder.    Wish I had smallies all around me, but I got spots.    All three really are so fun in their unique way.   I'd love to see a cage match b/t a 5lb Spot, a 5lb Smallie, and 10lb Larry.  My fish biologist friends tell me the Spotted Bass will chase both away.     It's a gift from nature to fish locations like that.
