Congrats on the DD. Great way to start out the year.

Thanks man I’m still high off this catch!

Nothing special, but first time out in over a week. Big weather change coming so I thought they would be chewing. I was wrong. Only 3 bites total at 3 different ponds but made the last one count with this 2.2 pounder on a stupid tube. 3CFFF3B3-9F0F-4DC9-B3E7-A785C43B5451.thumb.jpeg.2a867b33f0c9c8140e180dae2b6b1664.jpeg

Walked to the canal out back a few minutes ago to test the swimbait I found yesterday. Hit with another cold front, air temp 20* colder than yesterday, but got this 4lb 2oz on the third cast. Had to run back up to the house for pliers and my scale, didn't expect to get bit for the few casts I was planning on making. There was another one with her about the same size trying to grab the swimbait while I was fighting this one, but she spooked off once I got this one close to the bank.

Biggest I've put on a scale was 68.5 but I had another that I didn't have a big enough scale for that I think might have been bigger.

Had a fun day fishing amongst the melting icicles, they were falling down the cliffs all afternoon. It was 21 degrees when we started but after lunch it got a little above freezing. My buddy Daniel got the big fish for our boat, pushing 20” if not there. Saw some nice ones being weighed in at a small tourney at the ramp too  B3186C03-3817-4519-965E-D7632FA09740.jpegBD6989A9-B655-4914-B42A-426C2DA340A1.jpegD3A834C0-FA32-4652-9EA8-2F6CBEF24628.jpeg0F7A69F6-2916-44BA-88A9-BFE74665B38E.jpegDE226BAC-136B-4273-930A-413CE1CCE868.jpegA47E7472-8469-4544-8E64-F43EE0FC7BA3.jpeg77434DD3-48A6-44D7-907D-132D40EBD593.jpeg

Yessir! Two of the split rings were still  in perfect shape, and they're beefy (not sure what Duckett uses for them, they almost remind me of the Spro power rings but I doubt they are). So just threw on an Owner oval line tie and some #4 Owner ST-56 trebles and she's good to go. Bait cleaned up pretty well and I like how it runs. I wouldn't mind if that guy broke off a couple more of them at that spot....

Went for a solo trip figuring the nice, warm stable weather the past couple weeks would have them on the bite. Wrong. Even the little ones were few and far between but it was still great being out there chasing them. Threw a ton of things at them but a spoon and Ned were the only things I could get them on.

Well, first day home after filming the movie was a bust. For me, anyway. Not so much as a bite, on a beautiful day. One of those days that makes you question your skills.

A guy fishing up the rock pile a bit caught an 8.92lb Bass on a jerkbait but forgot his scale, so I offered up mine. He let me release it, which was cool. Biggest bass I've ever held.

I landed this 6.2 pound large mouth at Presa Corinchis.  Biggest bass I have caught out of this lake.  She had this Tilapia sticking out of her mouth.  I might try a big swimbait next time I fish this lake.

Ok, so help me understand this. We had a cold front come into Houston over the weekend and I'm thinking, this is the perfect time for my Jerkbait rod and Vision 110 I got for Christmas. I was completely shut out on the jerkbait bite. However, they killed it on a shakyhead. I was fishing a 702SF and a Zoom Finesse worm not the Trick Worm. The smaller version on an 1/8 shakyhead jig hook. Granted these were small fish, but they were aggressive. I also was lucky and pulled out a chatterbait just to try my rod out and got bit on it. I was snapping tubes no luck. I even tried my Megabass Dark Sleeper and a 6th Sense Finesse Squarebill to no avail.

Have any of you had days where you thought the bite was going to be predictable and the bite came on something totally different?

It's hard to figure the bite out. I've been fishing this body of water for years and each day I learn something new.

Got my kayak out for the first time this year. Was hoping to try the new Lowrance but it wouldn't read depth or temp for some reason.

Caught about 10 bass on Neds and shakyheads, plus one that wanted to be a catfish.

I went and tried for cats and my first cast with a bucktaik I accidentally hit this guy in the side. Not a legit catch, but nice to know I can get one in the boat without any issues.

For those of us that have already seen your video, we know why the unit wasn’t working properly. Because your 12 volt battery “ wasn’t 12 volty enough “ ? ?

Well, today went better albeit still quite slow compared to where we were at the end of November. But it's January, not November. I guess I got a little karma for helping a guy weigh a lunker yesterday.

Good sized fish for the day, including a 2lb Spotted Bass which is always a delightful treat. Love me some Spotties, they fight up a weight class like smallies do.

Cheers everyone.

Looks like a good spot to bank fish. Would love to be there. Serious cabin fever's setting in.

During parts of the year it's good for 10-20 black bass in a couple hours, though many dinks. This time of year sees fewer catches there but bigger fish
