Ahhh, thank goodness we don’t have to see the rusty tape measure.  Had me scared for a second there.

Caught her at a private pond, but for 12/3 in PA I'm grateful for any bite I can get!

I'm proud of these two bass from yesterday. The lake went from 56 degrees Wednesday with 7' visibility to 63 degrees and 2' visibility. I normally zero on the bass during the turnover. I did catch some Hybrids(spoons) and Crappie(jerkbaits).

I had a foggy morning of fishing and catching dinks. This was the last catch of the day. Smallmouth, I think? I have no idea what type of bass this is. What is this?

Well I guess I caught my first ever smallmouth this morning. Awesome!

It hit HARD about 5 feet off the shore on a rock pile. Now I want to know what a big smallmouth fights like...

Looks like a baby spotted bass, but might be a smallie.

the subtle presence of a lateral line in one of the photos made me think it was perhaps some kind of hybrid or maybe a spottie. I'm considering it a smallmouth for now but I know it's definitely not the standard LMB I usually catch at that spot

Like @TnRiver46 said, it's a smallmouth. I've caught plenty that size during my creek wading days. Their markings tend to get more pronounced as they get bigger

Got out on the kayak today and was determined to figure out how to fish “offshore”. Small man made lake that’s approx 25’ at its deepest point. Coming from mostly fishing shallow retention ponds, my instinct is to beat the banks. Was determined to not do that today and work on using my graph to find fish. Took an hour, but found them in 20’ of water in isolated grass patches. Took only a drop shot so I could target fish I marked by dropping on top of them. Ended up with 8 fish with the biggest at 2.38 lbs. nothing huge but definitely gained some confidence and cannot wait to fish deep again. Thinking Texas rig will work nicely and maybe a jig as well. Just nice to have a plan, work it, and have it pay off. 47E14A2C-0FCC-49C4-9386-AEBEE9BA44D3.thumb.jpeg.1772026326c6d41966c06dcfe6c8c61c.jpeg

Couldn't pass up a 70* December day so I went out for a quick solo trip. Water temp 58* and it seemed like all they wanted was a jerkbait.

Was going through my catch pics from this year when this fish caught my eye. To me, it looks like the exact same fish caught three times this year. This fish hovers around the 5 pound mark. The first pic (black shirt) is from June 7, and you can see the bottom tail fin eroded/gone, but the top of the tail fin appearing infected/red, but still intact. Also check out the dorsal fin and the fishes gill plate since it is being held in the exact same position, same hand in each pic.
The second pic (grey shirt) was from August 4. Upper tail fin now eroded away to match the bottom of the tail fin. Third pic (orange shirt) is from Sept. 7. Same top and bottom tail notch. Same dorsal and gill cover irregularities to me.

What say you? Same fish in each pic? Anyone else with pics of the exact same fish caught multiple times?

@Team9nine she likes you...

And I can't say for certain, but I do believe I've caught the same one multiple times.  I also take horrible photos.  The fish above was a solid 5 and I made it look like a 3 ? so photo comparison would be challenging.
