Or if they are, you can't see the landing or bait used on the landing. I make sure to try and show all that part. Quote

Super User J._Bricker Posted July 24, 2021 Super User Posted July 24, 2021 Water temperature in the upper 70’s, air temperatures trying to reach triple digits and drought conditions contribute to turn the delta’s waters a fluorescent shade of green daily. Even though every day on the water now looks like a St. Patrick’s Day celebration, the fish don’t really seem to mind. In some ways, the worse the algae bloom gets the more aggressive the bass became. This 3.85lber smashed a crankbait and was my best fish of the day… 22 Quote
gunsinger Posted July 24, 2021 Posted July 24, 2021 Hard day on the lake but I managed to put 8 on the boat. The big ones eluded me so I had to settle for this one as my only picture worthy catch of the day. 16 Quote
Super User NYWayfarer Posted July 25, 2021 Super User Posted July 25, 2021 Maiden voyage of my new kayak today. Finally a nice day, low wind and no rain. I launched at my local river which is running high and fast. I paddled upstream and floated down hitting my productive spots. The most useful tool was my brand new backwater assault hand paddle. I wish I had bought one sooner. It was helpful making minor corrections while holding my rod. It fit nicely in my front bungees. No giants today. I managed to christen my new yak with fish slime instead of champagne. 19 Quote
Super User FishTank Posted July 25, 2021 Super User Posted July 25, 2021 It's been a tough summer so far but was able to get this one in the boat today. 22 1 Quote
Jmurphy87 Posted July 25, 2021 Posted July 25, 2021 Nothing special from me tonight unfortunately caught two the bigger one shook my hook as I was wading back to shore unfortunately ? I have a funny feeling that is was the same fish I caught the other night though. The smaller one looks just like the one from Wednesday night and I caught them both in there same respective locations. Felt good to get a redemption fish after losing the first one ?. I am really starting to like night fishing. Lure of the night was a 1/2 ounce black and blue buzz bait with a 1/0 trailer hook. I had to decide between a 3/0 or the 1/0 so I went with the smaller one whether that was the right call or not I don’t know. 16 Quote
Global Moderator TnRiver46 Posted July 25, 2021 Global Moderator Posted July 25, 2021 We had pretty good success with aggressive biting smallies yesterday. Of course I got like 5-6 drum……….. but one was 28” so that was fun. We covered a lot of water and used under a gallon of gas in the ole river rocket 21 Quote
Super User N Florida Mike Posted July 25, 2021 Super User Posted July 25, 2021 A friend and me had a mini- tournament yesterday. We only fished between 6-8:45 pm. Robert in his kayak, and me in the JB. His scale was messing up, so we counted fish by length. We fished my home lake. My plan was to go straight to the south end, because it’s deeper and less algae . I had also been catching most of my fish there recently. I stopped and fished 1 spot by our island. First cast with a UV speed worm , had a bite . Fought the fish to the boat and it was at a poor angle to lip, so I tried to grab it on its side but it dove under the boat and broke the line on the underside of the boat!!! Noooo !! I hollered. It was pretty demoralizing, because the fish was around an 18 incher. So I fished on , after that I fished the wind blown southwest corner. Really thought the fish would be there , but they weren’t. I then went across to the southeast shoreline, where I had done well on an eelgrass line several times recently. I only caught 1 small fish there. I finally caught a better fish on a fluke. I decided to spend the last hour or so fishing back toward home . Fished the east side of the island, which usually produces a fish or two - nothing. Robert caught up with me just past the island and he had only caught 1 fish. I had a 7 inch lead on him. Interestingly he had lost an 18 incher right when he started too, right at the kayak! I decided to fish back with a bama craw yum dinger. That end of the lake is now full of eel grass and algae, so I fished clear pockets through it back to the house , catching 4 more fish, including a 17 .5 inch fish. I ended up with 76 inches of fish, to his 24. It was only his 2nd trip to the lake. The first time he actually cuaght the most. Overall , we had a great time! Already looking forward to another one in the fall! 17 Quote
keagbassr Posted July 26, 2021 Posted July 26, 2021 Got out for about 4 hrs. Today after work. Could only muster 4 half-hearted swipes which yeilded nothing and 1 random annihilation strike on a toad that was my only fish of the day that weighed 4-1. 15 Quote
Mbirdsley Posted July 26, 2021 Posted July 26, 2021 Fished the mighty titabawassee river yesterday ( Saturday). I wanted to motor up the Shiawassee but, with a 15-20 mph south wind it would have made boat control a pain. So I decided to put in at center street. I caught a just under legal pike. 4-5 small large mouths, another 14 inch smallie and I lost a big smallie on a jig and craw. Lost a walleye at the boat too. This black/red/sparkle spro caught most of the bigger ones. One more week of working 12 hrs than I should be back to 8 hours 6 days a week Not a big fish day but, I’ll consider it a successful day considering how the fishing seasons been So far . apparently I was racing a tornado home. I had just turned south on hemlock coming off swan creek when the wife called. The funnel went through the launch area and where I was fishing about 30 minutes after I left. Storms were forecasted but, we’re supposed to be a little later. I could here thunder in the distance and decided to head back to the launch. Good thing I did 16 Quote
gunsinger Posted July 26, 2021 Posted July 26, 2021 @keagbassr If your only fish was 4lbs and up, that saved the day right? I was manning the back of a buddies boat for about 3 hours this evening. He was fishing deep water Carolina rigs, about the only setup I didn’t have. I managed to eke out two. The biggest was 2.52 lb. 11 Quote

Jmurphy87 Posted July 26, 2021 Posted July 26, 2021 No pictures tonight got to the park with a hour to go at around 8:15pm park attendant told us we had a hour before they were closing, I said thank you and that I know I have been here before. I got the wife’s pole rigged up with a little whopper ploper, told her I would check the water temperature for our 12 week old son, gonna make a few quick cast. Less than 10 cast caught a 12 inch dink lol. Still throwing the black and blue buzz bait, unhooked him and let him go and told the wife to go fish there here and active. I went back to our son and started feeding him a bottle and maybe 10 minutes later she caught a little 5 inch bass lol. I caught a fish at least they ended up closing the park at 8:50 pm oh well on to the next time. 4 Quote
Global Moderator Bluebasser86 Posted July 26, 2021 Global Moderator Posted July 26, 2021 Got out for a few hours Saturday morning at a local park lake. Had one of the most explosive topwater strikes I've had in a long time from a skinny 20+ inch fish in the first 20 minutes on a Berkley Cane Walker. Caught several more small fish, it got really hot, busy, and tough. @HaydenS met me out there and caught a few of his own, I even got one of them on video. I only got 1 more that I measured, flipping a Havoc Pitboss into the water willows. 16 Quote
ThrowinPlugs Posted July 26, 2021 Posted July 26, 2021 Light rain and wind made for a super eventful topwater bite yesterday morning. I've been playing around with Sufix Advance Copoly on my topwater set up, REALLY liking it so far. Super smooth, just enough stretch to be forgiving but able to set the hook well on a long cast. New VMC ST 36's as recommended by the forum too. Tied up some new tail hooks. All came together. 13 Quote

Water will only be deep enough to cover their backs sometimes but that's where the food is and it's shady so they stay cool and protected. 2 Quote
Global Moderator Bluebasser86 Posted July 27, 2021 Global Moderator Posted July 27, 2021 Left work this morning at my scheduled time for a change. Still had my rods in the truck and it was nice out, so? Why not stop at the lake and make a few cast? Water felt like bath water. Had a snapping turtle almost make things real interesting, but he must have only got the feathers on my back treble, I felt the weight for sure and saw the wake. Thought I had a monster bass tracking my bait. The fish are ANGRY when they hit this bait. 17 Quote
Super User NorcalBassin Posted July 27, 2021 Super User Posted July 27, 2021 First time out in a few weeks and since our home lake is down 140 ft from full we decided to give a smaller lake that's at full pool a shot. A major dinkfest ensued, but it was great being out on the water and catching some fish. I'm not sure I've ever caught so many of these sub-12 inchers before... Pops was on a roll methodically donating tackle to the lake and was kind enough to spot me a 31 fish lead before he finally hooked up with his first fish of the day. Little fella but pretty much any size fish will put a smile on your face when it erases a skunk. When it got too hot to be comfortable and we ran out of water some decent fish started hitting. Fish 71 of the day... #73 Last fish of the day, #74... 23 Quote
Biglittle8 Posted July 27, 2021 Posted July 27, 2021 A few of mediocre pond fish on Bubble Gum 4" wacky rigged. Quantity has been great lately, size has been lacking. Another worm experiment... I put white Yum Dingers in with red worms and J.J.'s came out as a nice Bubble gum color a few weeks later. 19 Quote
hokiehunter373 Posted July 27, 2021 Posted July 27, 2021 First time out in close to 2 weeks last night. Hot and humid as heck with no breeze. Air quality warning on and the bite was off. Short strikes on a lot of stuff. Caught a few dinks and it seemed like the night was going to be a bust. Then I switched to the good ol Cavitron buzz bait and the fun was on. 3ish pounder, a 3-7 that fought like he was a 5+, and another 3 to finish the night. A couple low to mid 2s in between to put together my best bag ever. 13-14 pounds. Ended up with 11 fish in about hour and 45 minutes. I'll take that any night. 18 Quote
