Swamp Yankee Posted October 27, 2019 Posted October 27, 2019 Friday was my last trip out before we hauled out the boat and closed up the camper - Took these two bass, 4 pound 2 ounce and 4 pound 7 ounce both caught on a small jerkbait with my Loomis mag light 5'3" rod. Not a bad way to wrap up the season on Aspinook pond. These were the 5th and 6th 4lb + bass I took from the same two logs since September 21 13 Quote
Super User N Florida Mike Posted October 28, 2019 Super User Posted October 28, 2019 Got out after 4 today. The lake was very calm . I didn’t go with much of a plan. I stopped off at the first deeper hole down the lake and Caught the biggest one there on the zoom fluke with reddish top and gold sparkle. Caught several more on the same bait. Also caught a couple on the watermelon red baby brush hog.I switched back to a fluke down at the island and had one take it- I watched him swim by the boat as I set the hook. There was a bigger fish behind that one but couldn’t get it to bite. Then I switched to a red shad 10 inch culprit worm as I moved to the south end of the lake and got a couple more. Also caught several on the June bug speed worm. As night fell, I switched to a June bug senko and got a few more. They were only biting it if I hopped it , waited , and repeated. Ended up with 16. The bite was only fair for this time of year, but you won’t hear me complaining!!? 15 Quote

Global Moderator Bluebasser86 Posted October 29, 2019 Global Moderator Posted October 29, 2019 Didn't chase any green or brown fish this weekend, got myself out of my comfort zone a little instead. Took Lake for a very short trip Sunday to get him out on what might be his last trip of the year with the weather getting so cold so fast. The reservoir we were on is still 10' high from floods this spring, we were fishing the top of a submerged marina breaker wall and also the flooded parking lot. White bass, wipers, and sauger oh my! ? Monday the cold hit, 39* when I took off in the morning to drive to the lake and not a sole in the parking lot. I'd actually planned on chasing big green fish, but I like to tell my friends that continuously go to the same lakes that they'll never learn anything doing the same things over and over again, so I decided to take my own advice and go do something different again. So I went back after the striped and toothy fish. Turns out I can catch those too. The Frabill Power Extend was getting a serious workout. I actually caught this sauger from a parking lot on the back side of a guardrail. 15 Quote

Super User A-Jay Posted October 29, 2019 Super User Posted October 29, 2019 Hate putting the Pro-V Bass up for the winter but this was a good way to end it. The challenge is what makes it so satisfying. A-Jay 12 Quote
Tim Kelly Posted October 29, 2019 Posted October 29, 2019 Horrible to think you're going into the winter freeze already, especially after all that wind that has kept you off the water recently. 2 Quote
Super User A-Jay Posted October 29, 2019 Super User Posted October 29, 2019 I hear that @Tim Kelly Last half of this season was like nothing I've experienced and hope it never repeats. Definitely makes one appreciate the better trips and appreciate every fish. Perhaps it will set up a banner 2020 ! #lovethenorthwoods A-Jay 2 Quote

keagbassr Posted October 31, 2019 Posted October 31, 2019 Fished 8:30-2:30 today in the wind and rain tho 70ish degrees made it bearable. Caught 10, 1 on a bladed jig and the rest on a spinnerbait with the best of the day at 4-8. 7 Quote
Fairtax4me Posted November 2, 2019 Posted November 2, 2019 Pics from my adventures over the last few weeks. Had one of the best fishing days I’ve ever had at a small mountain lake. Caught my first ever Northern Pike, somewhere in the area of 30 LM bass, and a couple small smallmouths out of the river that feeds the lake. Several LM in the 2-3lb range, one that went 4.5lbs, and a couple smallies in the 2-3lb range out of local waters! Then caught a pile of rainbow trout this last week fishing mountain streams in the Western NC area. Heading to a couple other local lakes today and tomorrow, and hoping the whack weather over the past few days here hasn’t stirred the water up too bad. 8 Quote
lo n slo Posted November 3, 2019 Posted November 3, 2019 i took the little johnny out around 11 this morning. post cold front conditions but warming into the mid 50’s, felt good. swt around 63 and relatively good water clarity. i only caught 6 today. this 20” largemouth hit a Zoom U Tail, in green pumpkin magic, right off the bank in about two feet of water. 11 Quote
