WVU-SCPA Posted June 4, 2019 Posted June 4, 2019 Who says the ned doesn't catch big fish? This little guy has a lot to learn as he was chasing minnows as soon as he was back in the water. In all seriousness, the ned has accounted for 3 over 5 this year and two tournament lunkers. 16 Quote

Mbirdsley Posted June 6, 2019 Posted June 6, 2019 First time fishing for smallies in crystal lake in benzonia county Michigan. Water was crystal clear and can see down 15 feet. Water temp was 55 degrees. Locals have been kicking the crap out of the smallies. I only managed this one and couple monster rockbass on a 4 inch zoom green pumpkin tube. I wasn’t bed fishing but, they are on the beds in northern Michigan 14 Quote
Global Moderator TnRiver46 Posted June 6, 2019 Global Moderator Posted June 6, 2019 Nice fish! My only trip to that part of the world ended up near there on big platte lake, very fun place 1 Quote
Mbirdsley Posted June 6, 2019 Posted June 6, 2019 I’m fishing big platte tommrow. I fished little platte Monday night which, I’ll post pics later and took 2 16 inches , 16.5, and a 12 inche large mouths 3 Quote
Mbirdsley Posted June 6, 2019 Posted June 6, 2019 Went to little platte lake in benzie county Monday night. It’s a big lake but, the deepest it gets is 8 feet in a couple of holes. Water temp was 67 degrees and water clear. Took one 15incher on my home made chatter bait green pumpkin with blue tips on the skirt. Than 12 inches cane in a bomber 4a sexy shad crank. The 16 inches and 16.5 came on a water Mellon red flake 7 inch yum dinger t rigged with 1/8 tungsten weight. I may hit little platte up again before I leave. I can’t get the other 2 pics to load. I’m up north at the moment without a computer 8 Quote
Will Wetline Posted June 7, 2019 Posted June 7, 2019 The boat was rocking too hard for the scale to settle on a reading, so let's call this smallmouth 3 3/4 lbs. A Finesse TRD on a 1/16 oz. mushroom head is stretched out along her upper lip. 12 Quote

Super User TOXIC Posted June 7, 2019 Super User Posted June 7, 2019 Nice. That's my happy place....when the wind isn't blowing 30 knots. Quote
Dirtyeggroll Posted June 7, 2019 Posted June 7, 2019 Went to a nearby lake that used to secretly hold a very good population of 6, 7, and 8 lbers (so good that you could almost count on catching one or more that size one each trip). The water was clear so I had to pull out “The Babe” in hopes of in taunting one on the higher end of the scale. Well it wasn’t the fish I was hoping to catch to trash my Babe, but I’ll take it (~2.5 lber). Had lots of bigger fish striking the d**n head of the thing. I’d watch fish strike it multiple times on the way back to the boat, but couldn’t get a hook in them. I tried switching over to a pre-rigged version with a hanging treble but there was too much grass for that to work. I was planning on running back through the area where I was getting bit with a weightless senko or fluke but I ran out of time. 16 Quote
lo n slo Posted June 8, 2019 Posted June 8, 2019 it’s been stormy here since yesterday morning, but i had a decent window of opportunity to get after them this morning. not my best day in the little johnny, but i did get a dozen, with this fatty being the lone largemouth of the creel. life is good. 13 Quote
Brandon O'tinger Posted June 8, 2019 Posted June 8, 2019 Wasn't the huge bass I tangled with the day before and earlier in the day yesterday, but this was a "one more cast" bass as I was getting ready to leave. 17.25 inches, and a bit on the skinny side, so I say about 1lb 14 ounces. 10 Quote
long island basser Posted June 8, 2019 Posted June 8, 2019 Had a good morning today with 10 pickerel and 9 bass. Five of the bass were over 3 lbs with the best two weighing 6lb 12oz and 5lb 8oz. 19 Quote

Mbirdsley Posted June 9, 2019 Posted June 9, 2019 Went BACK to big platte lake in benzonia county Michigan. Fished for 3.5 hrs before we had to head home. Went 0 for 3 on smallies the day before. Water is very clear and you can see down 15 feet. This first picture was a smallie I caught on zoom green pumpkin salty tube 1/4 tube jig. Underneath a dock in 3 ft ofvwater. Day before I saw monster smallies cruising 4-3 ft Fow. Water temp was 66 degrees and I think spawning is just wrapping up on this lake. This 2nd smallie was 17.5 inches. Caught on a bandit silent root beer either 200 or 300 crank. Caught another smaller small mouth and a bunch of rock bass on that crank. This bass was on the drop off where it went for 5-6 to 25 feet of water bank. First real success I’ve had with cranks so far. I bought that bandit at a surplus store that is getting into fishing tackle heavy. Paid 2.99 for it. I’m thinking of going back and buying the 2-3 they had left 15 Quote
hawgenvy Posted June 9, 2019 Posted June 9, 2019 I was able to eke out first place from the rear deck yesterday in a casual club tournament at Lake Okeechobee north end. The lake itself was ridiculously shallow and muddy, so we fished the lower section of the Kissimmee River. Surface temps were as high as 88 degrees in shallow areas. Fishing was slow. Most of the fish were off the bank on the bottom in 10 FOW. The ticket was Gambler's gigantic 13" ribbon tail worm in black, behind a 1/2 oz bullet weight, resulting in a handful of 2-3 pounders and a win with a 12.5 bag. No one else reached the 5 fish limit and a couple of the guys were skunked. The key, I think, was that big worm. 17 Quote
Super User N Florida Mike Posted June 9, 2019 Super User Posted June 9, 2019 Got this one before the rain on a zoom fluke in watermelon slice. 14 Quote
Super User NYWayfarer Posted June 9, 2019 Super User Posted June 9, 2019 Weekend weather was absolutely amazing. Was able to fish Friday to Sunday. The Strike King Rage Swimmer was the juice! Lew’s LFS reel paired with an old favorite rod, the Field and Stream Tec-Spec Elite 6’,10” MH/extra fast. Got some nice Smallies. 16 Quote
CrankFate Posted June 10, 2019 Posted June 10, 2019 Season starting so slow, no pics to post. Bass usually become catchable around now. Did a trip in saltwater and still have nothing to report but one dink, at least it was on my new Kistler KLX, which will be more versatile than expected. The only luck so far has been at the trusty old catfish hole. 3 Quote
