High, dirty water means I get do my favorite kind of fishing. Picked up my 7' 6" Okuma Helios rod/Helios SX combo, spooled with 20lb Seaguar flipping fluoro and went to work. It isn't a numbers game usually, but couldn't complain about the quality this week.

@Bluebasser86, I haven’t broken out the jig yet this year. I might be inspired enough to do it today now!

@Mbirdsley, “fair weather” changes by the minute so you’ve gotta chance it sometimes. I got caught in a wild storm yesterday. I was looking directly at the boat ramp and had no clue where it was. We went to eat fried chicken for about an hour and it cleared off! My buddy came into town from Memphis so we were fishing despite the forecast. Fished about 10 out of 11 hours completely dry, most stayed at home

Morning started out Flat calm with little to no active fish anywhere I checked.

Afternoon ended fast & furious as a most welcome SW wind blew right on my favorite flat.

The 48 degree water and bright sunshine, just needed the wind.

About 30 minutes after it came up, a Lucky Craft 127 jerkbait in natural brown trout pattern worked over 6-8 ft of hard bottom was doing all the heavy lifting, including this perfectly shaped 5-2.

Best of this day.

I caught this skinny one yesterday morning around 10:30 in a private 40-acre lake west of Richmond. The kind of place that has a muddy bank for a ramp.

Length was 22 3/4”, but it was just 5 pounds 15 ounces on my Rapala digital.

Fought like crazy too and I was using a MH Conquest & 14# green Trilene XL. Went 12' left, 12' right, left. right, left again & then under the boat, then pulled away and jumped a couple of times , but never made it back into the pads.

I was using a copper-bladed spinnerbait with multicolored-flake pinkish? skirt and a 4” curl tail grub in chartreuse silver flake. These War Eagle spinnerbaits are growing on me. My mentor isn’t laughing quite so much now about my color selection.

WE weren’t expecting much this morning for a half day with tons of current and water in the high 50s. Still eating the little finesse worm, got a 19”, 18”, 17” and several 12-15” . And gar tacos for cinco de mayo!83712953-A222-4BE2-B7D1-693382210202.jpeg

MMMMM, gar tacos ?

I've heard they're great eating, but the guy telling me how to clean them started talking about getting a bandsaw involved and I checked out of the conversation.

We used tin snips yesterday, it wasn't too tough this go around. Experience seems to be helping with the cleaning effort. We had chicken and beef tacos as well for the not so crazy guests haha.

Caught a new PB yesterday - 3lbs 10oz. Took me two hours standing in the rain just to find the one fish, but I haven’t been catching much besides dinks and pickerel lately so I was over the moon when I landed her.

I was hopping a little black and blue ZMan micro finesse jig with a TRD CrawZ trailer through the pads.

My grandson Aiden may have the bug worse than me!

Waiting on my daughter to pick him up for school he grabbed his rod & I tell he, " ya got 15-20 minutes, to which he replied more than enough time!"

Second cast & he says, "I'm good I can go to school now!"

Remember when you was fretting about how slow the ice was going out? I said you would have us all passed up soon enough. I'd say you just did. Congrats.

@Looking for the big one, those are some toad spots. I’ve had the pleasure to battle a few like that in the Alabama river and I was lucky to live through it!

Amazing bank fishing tonight after heavy rains enticed big females back into the shallows. Caught a dozen big bass in 27 minutes on a big black worm and a blue/black jig and trailer. And that doesn't include several giants that I missed. Unfortunately, I demolished a Dobyns Champion 734 rod that snapped in three places simultaneously when I flipped a 6 pounder up onto the bank.

Got out and did some bassin after work this morning in the little boat. Water was high and muddy like everywhere else. Not sure why I tied on a swim jig since I never fish them, but it turned out to be the only thing I could get them to eat minus the first one I caught on a Toadrunner Jr. Thanks to @Munkin for the jig. It was fun for the whole hour I got to fish it until a fish stole it.

Thank you my friend.

I've started editing video's of the this season today.

I'm posting them chronologically but it will take me awhile to get caught up.

I spent a few hours yesterday working shallow cover with nothing to show for it except a few chain pickerel. I made one last cast along the edge of the lily pads when it got too dark to see my line and just about got my arm ripped off. I didn’t have my scale with me but she felt like she was pushing five pounds.

My whole drive home from work is between lakes and over rivers. I decided to give myself 20 minutes at the last lake before I hit our driveway. I walked down the hill with a jig on and...a Senko. I know, I know. If I had more time, I was going to go with the jig...but I wanted to get one under my belt quick so I started with the Senko. I knew they'd eat it there and if they didn't, I'd get some big rock bass.

Well, I missed two, caught one small one and then this one here. Funny, every time I've caught big fish this year, I haven't brought the scale. I thought about that on the way down the hill and decided I would just leave it in the truck because for sure, I wouldn't catch anything big and besides, I was only staying for 20 minutes. ?

I did weigh a fish in at 2lb the other day and this one was a good bit bigger. Scales bigger in the pictures also, for what that's worth. Anyways, it was a fun time. I left right as the rain blew in.

Got 3 hard runs, jumped twice and gave me two big boils in there between all that. Not a bad sized Michigan bass.

@lonnie gWhile I'd rather be 'dialed in' on 1 or 2 lures it's nice to be able to make good choices based on what's in front of you. Was back at it again on thurs. Got 16- 2 on the tx. Rig craw 2 on a jig 3 on a bladed jig 2 on a toad 6 on a buzzbait and 1 on a bps double plopper with a 2-12 toad fish the best. No real pigs but if the shallow topwater assault is gonna be on I'll be a happy camper the next few weeks

On a windy May 8, I whupped seven good smallies on a 5" Jerk ShadZ . This one weighed 4.03 lbs.

Nicely Done.

Your consistent success on such a challenging body of water speaks to your ability, determination, love of the sport and overall brown bass catching savvy.
