This is a little late, but took the yak out two weekends ago for about two hours. It has been crazy hot so I knew they were deeper, but with no electronics I had to cast blind. I figured they were in about 15' of water on main points. Started by looking for a topwater bite, but no takers. Same with shakeyheads and mid depth cranks. Decided to try a Carolina Rig in deeper water. Rigged up my Powell Max 734 and Shimano Chronarch 200e7 with 50# braid, 1/2 oz brass bullet weight with a bead, 2' of 15# mono leader, and Brown/Red Flake Pit Boss and started chucking. Caught one largemouth right off the bat about 15" then a second one right about 16". Boat traffic picked up and I booked it back to the house.

I keep going back and forth on if I'm going to upgrade this kayak with a depth finder, anchor trolley, and other goodies or just keep saving for an outboard.

Decent one this morning, 19", 3.92lb, plasmatail on a shakyhead:

EDIT:  Actually, now that I look more closely, I think it's the same fish as this one, from June:

If so, in a month it has gained 4oz and moved north about 1500 feet along the same shoreline, but a little deeper; the fish was in good shape and I couldn't even tell it had been caught before.

My best for today came at noon. I was deadsticking a palm tree out 100+' and 20fow. While that was resting I was throwing paddletail with another set-up got 2 casts in when I noticed other line going tight. Dropped set-up in hand grabbed resting rod and set hook on a 3#10oz 18"+. My Fenwick World Class 7'6" MH/F rod didnt skip a beat handled it easily. With this rod I could feel every movement the bass made coming up sideways shake rod performing extremely well just a bit too strong, maybe.

CA Delta chatterbait fish!  My electronic scale broke, but my friend's old spring scale read somewhere about 5.5.  My new PB!

You can find a used depth finder on CL, Does not have to be the best thing in the world, All that other stuff is not to much to do. You could upgrade the Yak and still get an outboard. Have 2 different fishing platforms.

Got a new rod to try out Okuma Helios 7' M/F. Nice and light and good balance with core50. Throwing saltwater ikas on slop and managed a couple 17" 15". Also throwing a Rage Swimmer next to a fish crib for a 16"er. The Helios rod is a keeper the fish got put back:thumbsup_blue:

Yak fishing is the way to go ?

We get to fish for bass that don't see baits because no one can get to them

I thought I'd buy a boat sooner or later.

Then I started kayaking semi-regularly.

Then I started bringing a rod with me when I saw somebody else fishing out of a kayak.

Then I bought another kayak specifically for fishing.

And all of a sudden, I found I didn't need or want a boat any more...

Pair of 3s this morning:

Hit the local golf course this evening and landed a couple of these pound and a halfers. The tail walk by this one was awesome. Drop shot and Senko didn't the work. I just fished my new Revo MGX baitcaster on my weightless setup tonight and was VERY impressed!

Things have been crazy at work the last week and a half or so and it hasn't left me with much free time to contribute a whole lot on here. Figured I'd throw up some of the catches the last few weeks. I haven't been catching tons of numbers lately, but some very solid fish have been coming over the side of the boat

Booyah! And my buzz bait keeps churning out big bass! This is a GIANT for north Missouri!

That is a giant for anywhere in Missouri. Of course if you listen to people, you would think stringers of five pounders are Commonplace here and everyone has a buddy who caught a ten pounder in this pond just last week.

Got a couple chunks tonight pitching to over-hanging trees. Only a few bites, but they were good ones.
