Super User *Hootie Posted June 10, 2014 Super User Posted June 10, 2014 I know they say, that in the G Loomis lineup, sensitivity starts with the IMX. Where then, does that place rods like the Mossyback, and the Bronzeback. Hootie Quote
John G Posted June 10, 2014 Posted June 10, 2014 I am under the impression that the Mosseyback is in between the GL3 and the IMX. Quote
Amarley Posted June 10, 2014 Posted June 10, 2014 Mossyback is definitely a step up from the GL2 from my experience. Don't know how it compares with the IMX. Quote

There's numerous rods that cost 1/2 or even 1/3 of the IMX that match its performance. 1 Quote
Super User *Hootie Posted June 11, 2014 Author Super User Posted June 11, 2014 I have 3 of the GL3 rods and I really like them. I used them all last year for bottom contact baits and spinnerbait fishing, never had any complaints. Hootie Quote

I like the IMX, I always did and I don't know what the new ones are like but it seems like every other company has caught up and now you can get rods just as sensitive, if not more so for a good deal less. The GLX is the benchmark for sensitivity and that kind will never come cheap. I like a lot of Loomis rods and the Mossyback was one that I feel is over priced by a good bit. Quote
John G Posted June 11, 2014 Posted June 11, 2014 There is just something about the Classic look of the Loomis MBR and CR series that I like. Whether it be GLX or IMX, I like the way they look and feel in my hands. One of my latest acquisitions was Loomis MBR843 IMX w/a Weibe reel seat that IIRC, I paid $220.00 on ebay. Sure, I paid a little more than I had to but I don't think the rod was ever used. I think that I got a good deal and I am thrilled. As far as other Loomis models go, I just got a Bronzeback Topwater rod. I got used in new condition but it is a rod that I would have paid full price for. My first Loomis was a CR723 GL3. While it's a nice rod, it was overpriced. Others may have passed the IMX by in performance, but when I buy a rod, aesthetics play a big part. I will take my lowly IMX's over most new rods that to me, are not as aesthetically pleasing, any day of the week. 2 Quote
