CDMeyer Posted June 10, 2014 Posted June 10, 2014 This past weekend the bite was tough, extremely tough after a cold front. I tried a search bait (Spinner) and could not get bite, so then I tried a swim jig and nothing there as well..... but the I went with a Senko and my dad was doing the trolling motor and was moving to fast to fish the Senko slowly so I started swimming it with a twitching action slowly jerking it and got bite and caught a descent bass. Has anyone ever swam a Senko before Quote
nascar2428 Posted June 10, 2014 Posted June 10, 2014 You can fish a Senko any way you want to. And the answer to your question is yes. I swam a Senko during the pre spawn this year. Quote
Mr Swim Jig Posted June 10, 2014 Posted June 10, 2014 The swim senko is a great producer, works just as well as a swim jig trailer. Quote
Super User MCS Posted June 10, 2014 Super User Posted June 10, 2014 Try doing this technique with a grande bass rattlesnake. It has a much more lively tail and moves water better. Thank me later Quote
Super User Felix77 Posted June 10, 2014 Super User Posted June 10, 2014 Yes ... When I want to cover more water I have treated a senko as a jerkbait and caught a ton of bass that way. Especially great in the shallows through weeds, lily pads etc. I always thought there should be a stick which had a fluke tail. Zoom finally did it last year with their fluke stick. http://zoombait.com/2013/08/the-new-zoom-fluke-stick/ 1 Quote

fishva Posted June 10, 2014 Posted June 10, 2014 I tried fishing it like a lipless crank bait once, just reeling it in and letting it fall. Didn't get a bite, but I also didn't give it much of a chance. Quote

boostr Posted June 10, 2014 Posted June 10, 2014 Hmm, a fluke stick.... COME ON!!! I'm just getting familiar with the whacky rig. I SHALT NOT GET TEMPTED BY THINE YE BAIT MONKEY! Quote
Mccallister25 Posted June 10, 2014 Posted June 10, 2014 I have a cousin who isn't very big into fishing, and is also a little hard headed. He'll fish with me from time to time, and no matter how many times I try and teach him something, he just wont listen. Last summer I finally turned him on to senkos, and every single time he threw one, he would just swim it back. Iv actually seen him catch fish this way. I used to think it was the damnedest thing, but apparently he's not the only one. Quote
jhoffman Posted June 10, 2014 Posted June 10, 2014 fluke stick? swim senko! Take a tail off a beat up swimbait and put that on a senko Quote
Super User flyfisher Posted June 10, 2014 Super User Posted June 10, 2014 I use mine as soft jerk baits probably 95% of the time and catch a lot of fish. I also read an article by Alton Jones that says he would swim them with a more steady retrieve during the spawn when the conditions didn't warrant sight fishing. Once he had a hit and didn't hook up, he knew a nest was there and would fish the area with other baits or the yum dinger more slowly to entice strike Quote
