brianbjk Posted April 6, 2007 Posted April 6, 2007 I recently bought some stike king 3x finesse worms for shakeyhead technique. I love how the tail of the worm sticks upand the durability, I use the bite-me jig head for it, but it is almost impossible for me to get the darn worm on because of the 3x plastic it doesn't hold on the jighead. Can anyone give me suggestions on jigheads that would work a little better with this 3x plastic. any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Quote
Super User SPEEDBEAD. Posted April 6, 2007 Super User Posted April 6, 2007 I have heard the 3x stuff is tough to keep on a jighead, have you tried one with a corkscrew in the jig head? It will probably be difficult to get started, but should stay there. Quote
Deuceu72 Posted April 6, 2007 Posted April 6, 2007 Try using a brush-on super glue........that'll hold your worm on the shaky head..... ;D Quote
Brad_Coovert Posted April 6, 2007 Posted April 6, 2007 I would try a screw in style head such as the ones from Reaction Innovations or Picasso. Brad Quote
bassmaster8100 Posted April 7, 2007 Posted April 7, 2007 just a touch of super glue should do the trick Quote
Super User Maxximus Redneckus Posted April 7, 2007 Super User Posted April 7, 2007 just a touch of super glue should do the trick Make sure that worm and jig are REALLY DRY also Quote
RecMar8541 Posted April 7, 2007 Posted April 7, 2007 I use shoe goop, dosent spill like crazy glue, and a tube goes a long long way. Just a dab and the worms stick like velcro! Quote
jomatty Posted April 7, 2007 Posted April 7, 2007 ive found that the corkscrews dont really help much with the 3x baits. it is very hard to get them to screw in. for me if using a bite me style jig head i use super glue. its difficult to describe the way i put the worm on but ill try. i thread it on just like normal but instead of stopping when the end of the worm is where i want it i keep pushing. the plastic will start to bunch up around the jig head. once you know how much to do this it will bounce back to the right place. i put a little super glue on the shank before doing this. not sure if this makes sense but is really simple, although still a bit of a pain in the butt. those 3x baits are a sick shaky head bait, and i also am using them almost exclusively for c riggin. too bad they are such a pain. keep em out of the sun too cause they can turn to goo. matt Quote
stratosdriver Posted April 8, 2007 Posted April 8, 2007 Have you tried the Fintech Nuckleball jigs they have a unique hook design that keeps the worms firmly in place they are the only jigs that i know of that use Mustad ultra points and Mustad designed these hooks for fintech, they are incredibly sharp and the hook design allows for very good penatration on the hook set if you havent tried them yet they are worth a try Quote
Garnet Posted April 8, 2007 Posted April 8, 2007 I use a daichi copper head hook on 3x jerk baits worked fine. The copper head has that copper spring screw in but I like the hook disign also. BPS has a knock off with the same hook. Garnet Quote
jomatty Posted April 13, 2007 Posted April 13, 2007 a new trick that i discovered works ok is to heat the corkscrew with a lighter before attempting to thread the worm on. it dosent work that well but works better than not heating it. its a shame because i love the 3x on a shaky head and i love the spot remover for a shaky head. unfortunately it is just too hard to get the 3x to stay on that keeper so i use a bite me jig head when fishing a 3x worm on a shaky head Quote
