BassThumbAddict Posted June 10, 2014 Posted June 10, 2014 Today I bought a lews tournament laser mg. I fished it for about an hour tonight and was really impressed. Such a smooth reel right out of the box and it casts a mile. Being stuff on the shore casting distance is huge for me. I also purchased a castaway 7'0 MH. I have never really researched castaway or even heard much about them, but when at the local tackle store I loved this rod. I really hope these two items stay consistent in their performance. Ps: I've already sent money for 36 combos for Tackle the Storm foundation. I'm having more fun fishing this year than any before. 1 Quote
MichiganFishing1997 Posted June 10, 2014 Posted June 10, 2014 Give us an update on how you like that rod? I've always been interested in them but haven't heard much. What model did you get? Quote
Super User Teal Posted June 10, 2014 Super User Posted June 10, 2014 About a decade ago, Castaway was huge here locally. I bought a few. I still have one. The Castaway skeletonsare pretty good rods. You will enjoy it. Quote
Big Swimbait Posted June 10, 2014 Posted June 10, 2014 Going way back, I fell in love with the Castaway "East Texas Grass Rake" - the original "punching" rod. I had 2 - one was stolen from my boat while getting gas at a marina. I look on ebay at least once a week for another one. The new Invicta series with the golf grip is sweet! Quote
BassThumbAddict Posted June 10, 2014 Author Posted June 10, 2014 It's their castaway pro sport fished this morning with it. I caught two combos and the lews reel hauled them in like they were nothing. The castaway rod didn't miss a beat when setting the hook with a small punching rig. Quote
