BasshunterJGH Posted June 9, 2014 Posted June 9, 2014 Are their crankbaits and jerkbaits worth the extra $$$? Also, how durable r they? Compared 2 spros, jackalls, and live target? Quote
5fishlimit Posted June 9, 2014 Posted June 9, 2014 Some people will say yes, and others will say no. I personally feel they have a specific action that the other companies don't replicate, so I will say yes. The other companies, especially SPRO, make great products, too. I've had zero issues on durability with Lucky Craft, SPRO, or Live Target lures. Never used Jackall, but that's only because I haven't gotten around to it. I honestly lump Lucky Craft in the same price range as SPRO as they are usually only a few dollars more. Both fish great right out of the package. Live Target, I find, need some tuning to get them to run correctly. Quote
Super User webertime Posted June 9, 2014 Super User Posted June 9, 2014 The one problem with them (or SPRO/Jackall/Megabass) for me is I live in Pike County... And losing them hurts. Quote
Super User Scott F Posted June 9, 2014 Super User Posted June 9, 2014 There is a particular Lucky Craft model in a size that nobody else offers. Many times, this bait will out fish EVERYTHING else by a wide margin. During those times, I'd pay double what they charge now. Cabelas online has LC Pointers on sale right now for $9 to $10. As far as durability and quality, the hooks are good but a little brittle, the paint will wear off where the hooks rub and they suspend perfectly every time for me. I also like the oval split ring on the nose. Quote
einscodek Posted June 9, 2014 Posted June 9, 2014 Been using a Yozuri jerkbait I found in the water and its got sweet action caught fish second cast. Rapala xrap has been good to me as well but the Yozuri has me sold so far.. may get me some newer models. Quote
fishguy613 Posted June 10, 2014 Posted June 10, 2014 i believe a few of LCs best selling baits were designed by a guy who now works for jackall. i love lc and do buy them but jackalls are the better buy, same quality lures for a few dollars less and they come equipped with stinger trebles Quote
Super User Catch and Grease Posted June 10, 2014 Super User Posted June 10, 2014 For serious tournament fishermen where every fish counts it is definitely worth the extra but for an angler only out for their own enjoyment I'll do fine with my 4-6$ lure. Quote
einscodek Posted June 10, 2014 Posted June 10, 2014 Catch and grease yea I agree.. imo locating fish is #1 Once located, those $6 lures will often do just as well for most Quote
Global Moderator Bluebasser86 Posted June 10, 2014 Global Moderator Posted June 10, 2014 Those 3 brands you listed are almost as expensive if not more expensive than LC at our BPS Their jerkbaits are 100% worth the money though. Their other hard baits are great but haven't seen a real example of a time when another similar bait didn't get real similar results. Quote
Super User iceintheveins Posted June 10, 2014 Super User Posted June 10, 2014 Try the Dynamic lures J Spec and Travado. Just about as good of action, half the price. dynamiclures.com Quote

Super User aavery2 Posted June 10, 2014 Super User Posted June 10, 2014 I am in the camp that they are absolutely 100% worth the extra money, catch them on sale, or someone getting rid of some quality used ones at a good price and it makes it a little easier on the pocket book. Quote
speed craw Posted June 11, 2014 Posted June 11, 2014 Don't rule out flit 120 , duo realis 120 etc Quote
bootytrain Posted June 11, 2014 Posted June 11, 2014 LC Pointers caught more fish than my Jackall Squad Minnows and Megabass Trick Darters this year so far. And the color selection is insane! Quote
down4ttown Posted June 11, 2014 Posted June 11, 2014 Yo-Zuri makes some nice cranks. Been using them all season and they are outcatching everything around here. The 3DB series is as pretty as it gets. Quote
