Went out this weekend and both days around 11 the heat was incredible. How does that affect the bite when the temperaturee is really hot? Specifically the local canals and lakes here in south florida.

It's just going to get worst and worst in terms of heat the next few months. Any advice on fishing in the summer heat?

Yeah its going to much worse.  The only time I fish midday during the summer is when I go to the glades. It gets too hot, i run the boat a bit to cool off. If you are limited to canals and you have to fish midday i would focus on cover and culverts. The good news about summer for canal fishing are the afternoon storms. As the water builds up, they have to discharge water and that creates current in the canals. Take advantage of the moving water and you might find some good fishing. Last year my biggest catches occurred during the summer.

Storms and current are key.
