Does anyone have any experience/thoughts on the Revo SX spinning reel? I haven't fished regularly for lil over 10yrs and finally getting back into it. I always bass fished with a spinning reel (how I was taught by my pops). At any rate, I picked up a stradic ci4+ 4000, took it home, and noticed it had some rotor rub sound out of it. Took it back and noticed all their stradic's were like that. So I returned it and have been looking at the Revo SX, actually bought one online, should get it this week. Was curious what some more experienced fisher's thought of them. Also picked up a Johnny's Morris II from BP over the weekend (7'2" MFA). Looking forward to hitting the lake this weekend.

I have the Inshore model Revo spinner, same basic design. It has the smoothest drag I've ever seen and very powerful. They are strong reels and easy to get into to maintain. I've caught fish upwards of 20#'s with it without a glitch and best of all it came with an extra spool, something other manufacturers don't think is important.

thx for the feedback. I'm looking forward to put this thing into action. Since I've been getting back into fishing, I didn't realize a lot of folks use baitcasters. Been trying to weigh the pro's/con's between the two as I do like to fish worm/jig as well as top water/spinbait lures and don't have the means to fund multiple rigs yet. Seems like I'll be just fine.

I used a revo sx spinning reel for a summer. I thought it was a pretty decent reel. However the initial smoothness seemed to disappear over the summer and it became somewhat noisy. Similar to the rotor rubbing noise of the ci4+. I love my ci4+ reels compared to the revo and have found you can almost eliminate the rotor sound by polishing the shaft and gear that it rides through.

interesting to know. I wonder if some of it has to do with it not being lubricated well enough from the factory. I picked up some quantum hot sauce to work on my revo when it comes in. Wonder if that would've smoothed out the CI4+.

I've used baitcasters almost exclusively for well over 30 years. Recently carpul tunnel forced me to use spinners for everything. I found them to be much more versatile than I gave them credit for being. But I do miss the pinpoint accuracy I can get from the casting reel.

So I got my Revo SX40 in the mail today, and I think I have a problem (not familiar with this reel). Should there be a bearing on the shaft when you take the spool off?

I'm not sure with the SX. Examine the schematic and verify if each part of the assembly is there. Also you can call pure fishing in Iowa before 5pm central time and they will help you their customer service is great.

thanks, I may have to call them. I looked at the schematic, seems like the parts are there as diagrammed. It's like the bearing gets stuck in the spool. After I pop it out and reseat it, I put the spare spool on and the bearing doesn't stick to that one. Weird.

The bearing shouldn't come off. There should be a plastic or fabric spacing washer that's supposed to be somewhat difficult to remove from the shaft. That should hold the bearing in place. If the spool is so tight that it pulls that washer and everything off with it, I'd take it or send it back.

I posted a review of it a few weeks back if you search revo sx 30 review it should come up
