Humm, no not at my Walmart. Some are better than others... I think I know what you mean though... Lots of really great tackle shops on or near some of the best known lakes in America!

You know you are hooked when you save money and spend an entire friggin day at airports just to travel from León, Guanajuato, Mexico to Springfield, Missourah to visit Bass Pro Shops headquarters, ( btw, I also have visited BPS St.Louis, BPS Houston, BPS San Antonio, & BPS Dallas ).

 

Those really are sacred grounds, Walmart is far from it.

Not my Walmart. That place is filthy, and the staff are mean. Only thing close to sacred about the experience is the fresh air & natural light when you walk out the door.

I cant pass a walmart without checking out the fishing sections there. And when I go thats always the first section I go to. That being said, my local BPS/Green Top/Cicis is the most sacred that a place can be. Once you get in one mile of it, youll be there for atleast 5 hours. Ive had to go in with cash and nothing else before just so I dont blow my bank account

My WalMart sucks.  Seriously the only thing they have is shame, disappointment and insanely good people watching.  Just driving in the parking lot is enough to make me want to leave most of the time though.

My Walmart has one little fishing section hidden behind a wall way back in the corner that you would never find if someone didn't tell you where it is haha... But one day they did have a kayak full of marked down lures so thats something...

Definitely not Walmart. I feel that way at my local sporting goods store. I try my best to not feed the big stores any of my fishing money.

I guess I'm lucky, Bass tackle depot is only 25 miles away and wal-mart is about the same. No the good side, I know where all the homeless dopers go in hot and cold weather. It's not BTD!

You know you're hooked when your tackle box is more organized than your house. you know you're hooked when you go to sleep counting largemouth bass, not sheep. you know you're hooked when the night before a fishing trip is your equivalent of Christmas Eve. you know you're hooked when you remember the exact measurements of your personal best bass, but not your wife's birthday (hasn't happened to me yet lol)

Walmart actually does tend to have some nice prices albeit on a much limited stock compared to BPS. Luckily I have the pleasure of living about 25 minutes from two different Bass Pro Shops   you know you are hooked when you go to both in one day to just "look around" lol

I agree, when you find good stuff in walmart, it is usually cheaper than other stores. A gander mountain opened up here about a year ago and while they have some good stuff that dicks sporting goods and walmart don't have, some of the things they are missing are ridiculous...Went in the other day to grab a couple packs of jigheads for crappie fishing, and they have no jigheads in the 1/8-1/32 size. Those are a basic necessity for me!

Your hooked on fishing when you are doing it 7 days a week, rain or shine.  Your hooked on fishing when you make your own lures for specific species.  Your hooked on fishing when you are as happy fishing from shore as in your 28' Sailfish with twin Yamahas.  Haven't bought any to tackle in weeks, got everything I need.

My local Wal-Mart is actually pretty nice. I snagged a Abu Garcia Black Max combo that was on the clearance rack with a red sticker for $35..obviously mis marked. They also have those $1.50 boxes that have some hidden treasures in them. That being said, I also live 20 minutes from a Cabelas and about 35 minutes from BPS, so I usually spend my free time and money at those stores.
