With the hot weather and lethargic fish I don't know what to throw when the going gets tough. Any baits selections for these hot summer bass in sallow lakes where fishing deep isn't a choice. Let me know

X2...most likely the OP is fishing too fast, bottom drag them, I mean crawl them. Worm choice all depends, I used mag trick, trick, rattlesnakes, ribbontails. But slow the retrieve down. Also if worms don't work a baby brush hog or small craw like a incredi craw or bb cricket worked the same way. snails pace wins the race

There is no "right" answer to your question, you can either burn the water with cranks n´spinnerbaits retrieved as fast as you can looking for reaction strikes or slow down to arthritic snail pace with soft plastics and jigs.

Ive always found the more lethargic they get the bigger the baits and the slower fished gets em biting better.

Only problem with that is that tournaments aren't fished at night.....

Shaky heads! Drop shots! Deep cranks! And morning top water! My three new favorite things I've been using a senko with great success too wacky rigging in ipenings of heavy grass or Texas rigged around lay downs and docks

Does it stay level or drop to a side and glide down ?

one side it is a slide and glide and if you shake/giggle it wiggles harder on that side.

a small nail in both ends gives you a faster level fall.

Nice thanks for explaining. Gonna give that a shot this weekend instead of throwing just senkos

A RES or a shakey head usually works for me when they don't wanna feast. Tossed a senko a couple days ago when the bite was slow and it worked wonders. Still can't wrap my head around how much bass like senkos.
