B_Gilbert Posted June 9, 2014 Posted June 9, 2014 I just upgraded my boat to a 24v trolling motor, just bought 2 new batteries and had a few questions about hooking everything up... Can I run the trolling motor directly to the battery or is it better to have a plug?? Also, making sure I have this right... Basically I would need to connect the two batteries using a cable and do so with a positive and a negative, then the free positive and negatives would run to the trolling motor... Yes/no?? Thanks again guys! Quote
sparky241 Posted June 9, 2014 Posted June 9, 2014 Yep that how you hook up 24v, you don't have to have a plug but please have a fuse inline on the pos side Quote
Super User Jig Man Posted June 9, 2014 Super User Posted June 9, 2014 It is better to have a plug and unplug it when you charge the batteries. Quote
Super User Scott F Posted June 9, 2014 Super User Posted June 9, 2014 I have a plug for my trolling motor and I put the same plug on my charger. I then can easily hook up the charger just by plugging in. Quote
Super User slonezp Posted June 9, 2014 Super User Posted June 9, 2014 If you have an electric steer motor, the manufacturers require a plug. Quote
