My Braid Is Noisy

I love braid. I honestly don't know how I fished with mono. I'll never go back. EVERRRRR

That being said, the sound of the braid coming over the guides kind of drives me nuts. Is there any way to mitigate that noise? 

Please don't tell me switch to mono, because I won't do it. I just won't do it.

That's the nature of the beast. Line conditioner might help a little, but braid is just gonna be noiser than mono or flouro.

What braid and size are you using and what rods?

Noise of braid to me is not worth it. 12# mono has proven to be sufficient for how I fish

i started using sunline fx2 and its a tad noisy but not near as noisy as some others ive tried

to get less noise:

 

- use 8 carrier braid

- use braid with coating

- use soft braid

- dont use braid

Yup yup. Power Pro Super Slick is the way to go. Plus, any little noise it sings is the sound of security....

Some braids are less noisy, like Samurai, but they're all noisy compared to mono. That's basically the reason I won't use them because it drives me crazy.

I just set braid up for the first time on my *** black n had this concern. I'm hoping this is what u guys are talking about n my guides are okay.

I kinda like the sound, and think it only get's better with a big ol fish adding to the music!!! It get's even better with the recoil guides!! Yep different braids and different guides can very, but if you like braid, get used to that sweet sound some if us love!!

Try some of Wilson Fraziers Braid aid. Its a line and lure conditioner but its a wax.

^^^THIS!^^^ I have some powerpro that has 3 seasons on it and it is very quiet, as braids go. Of course, my rods are customs and the guides are wrapped on with a little more care and concern than ANY production rod you can buy. The proper alignment of the guides will mitigate that noise, also. Likewise, the misalignment of said guides would increase the noise. And most production rods I have handled/used over the years have had misaligned guides. That's another advantage of a custom rod-there's no question as to whether the guides are straight.

I was fishing sufix 832 on an *** and there wasnt any real audible noise to report. Im not sure how it would sound on the NRX or ***'s recoil guides tho.

8 carrier braids are less noisey.pps8, suffix 832 and Berkley professional grade braid are some good choices.
