I use the 735 for jigs as well. The 724 for smaller plastics and hula grubs. Lamiglas' rating example: 735C = 7'3" rod, with 5 being the power2=Light 3-Medium 4=Medium Heavy 5=Heavy 6=Extra Heavy Quote

They don't even have a rating above "6" any longer. When speaking of Lamiglas ratings, a lot of people don't understand that they can be a little light when it comes to "power" if they're used to fishing Shimano, St. Croix, etc. It's not wrong the way Lamiglas uses their powers...I actually think Lamiglas holds true on their ratings (all across the board since they are a major manufacturer of multi-species). Fly, Salmon & Steelhead, Bass, etc. I gave the ratings above based on my experience because I have fished with so many different rods, I'm trying to give an accurate picture to someone who might not know what to choose if they haven't fished with Lami rods. I bought the 736C and the 705 Glass (for cranks). Lightweight and balance really nice. For texas rigs, I would personally go with the 705 because I like a little more backbone. There's no questioning the sensitivity..I think you'll be pleased. The details on the rod like the wraps are clean too. I'll be able to update you even more after this weekend! 1 Quote

Big Fish Rice Posted June 14, 2014 Posted June 14, 2014 Alright, fished with both! The 736C is a beast. Has a lot of backbone and the sensitivity is good. I think that since it is a "6" power, I lose a bit with it being a fairly stiff rod. I think the "5" power would be better suited for jigs and texas rigs overall. This "6" would be a great swim jig rod though, as well as a flipping/pitching rod. THe Excell IIs are very light, balanced and just plain great quality. I'm very happy with both models. Haven't used many glass rods over the years, but I did catch a smallie on a square bill with the 705 Excell II Glass and it felt awesome. More of a parabolic bend throughout the entire rod. Should be great for DT6's and DT10s.For $99, it's a big yes from me. Quote

The infinity 7'2" medium seems to suit the widest variety of techniques I do. Have you used both spinning and casting? Also, are you sponsored by lamiglas? Quote

I'm ready to feel the fishes inhale the bait, fart next to my jig and all that jargon I hear on this site. I cant wait to caress the bottom contours of my favorite lakes with jigs and soft plastics.
