Fishermen Friendly Sunscreens?

Are there any sunscreens out there that have proven not to be repulsive to fish? Most sunscreens must be re-applied several times while out on the water and I want to select a brand that I don't have to worry about having to wash my hands after each application. Maybe one doesn't exist?

Don't know about the sunscreen, but I apply it to my nose and the upper part of my cheeks (facial cheeks that is).  The rest of me is covered by long sleeve UV shirts or jerseys, a buff and a hat with side curtains, polarized sunglasses, then a pair of Dr. Shade gloves.

 

The clothing can be a bit warm, but it's better than getting sunburned, or getting sunscreen in the eyes.

 

All the articles of clothing are white, or a very light color.  Makes a big difference.

Go for a aerosol spray, I'm partial to Coppertone Sport SPF 50 spray myself, with the spray you never have to get the scent on your hands

I use the spray sunscreen everywhere except my face. I use the sunscreen that comes in a stick form for that. It looks like a glue stick.

The spray on my face was annoying because of my beard. I ended up with it dripping in my mouth, and it's not a pleasant taste at all.

Are there any studies that show that sunscreen can spook fish? Or is it all assumptions and things we've been told.

My wife and I own a small pharmacy. I use our store brand Good Neighbor Pharmacy spray on sunscreen. I like the spray on for both fishing and golf as it keeps my hands from getting messy. I don't like getting my real slimed up with sunscreen and slick hands can be a big problem when swinging a golf club.

Spray on's if I need it, SPF 50 and like stated above, use sun protective clothing, and a full brimmed hat to cover my head/ears where my neck where the buff doesn't cover. Yes, it may be a bit warmer, but no sun burns and no need to re-apply sun screen makes it all worth it.  Besides, they cool pretty well if you get them damp.  My only thing is I wish Simms made sun gear in small sizes that would fit my 9yr old son.

I've used many different kinds and never had problems.

I also saw Bill Dance do an Q&A section on his latest show and I'm pretty sure he said they did a study and found stuff on your hands doesn't scare fish.

He also said 99.9% of noise is deflected off of the surface of water so the old saying that if you're noisy you'll spook fish is false.

Only thing that is going to do what you want is UV protective clothing. Pants, long sleeve shirt, neck/face wrap, and gloves.
