I'd say Carbonlite

Agree with carbonlite.  Used my 7' mh today with senkos both weightless and with 1/8oz.

Medium heavy was still able to cast decent? That's two people so I'll be checking it out thanks.

It's an often over looked rod, but I'm in love with my 6'6 medium heavy action berkley lightning rod. I use it for all types of fishing styles. I feel everything, and its super strong. I fish senko's weightless with it alot and I feel every nibble. Even when bluegill peck at my worm. lol..$40 bucks at walmart.

Carbonlite. For under 100 just can be beat

Honestly the price range is very competitive, what i wold suggest is that you check all the rods in the range and check what is right for you.

My 2cents for under 100:

Fenwick HMG

Fenwick ET Smallmouth - Can be found for 100

Abu Garcia Veritas - (Although I'd go M/F if you choose this brand and can be found regularly for around 80.)

If you go used though you might find better:

St. Croix Avid

Shimano Crucial

The *** may be over your $100 limit unless you can get it on sale or possibly from someone on fleabay.  Also be aware the handle bothers some people because of how thin it is.  Love my Smallmouth rods, but it is impossible to find them now at the price I paid.  You could buy them for awhile at fishusa for $99.95, but their prices are now back up to MSRP.  Could kick myself for waiting!   :sad78:

I've been told the new HMG rods are very nice.  I have one Berkley Lightning rod, and have to agree it is one sweet rod for the money.  Another rod you might want to check out is the Ethos rods from Academy Sports.  They get some pretty good reviews.  I have no experience with the Tec Spec Elite from DSG store, but do have one of the original black Tec Spec rods.  It is another good value.

Yesterday I picked up a Hurricane Redbone.  Naturally I haven't spent a lot of time with it yet, but like it a lot so far.  List is $99.95, but I found a couple for $75 at a local mom and pop store in Deland, FL.  Must be last year's models as the other Redbones wore $99.95 price tags.

Can't comment on a lot of the store brand rods.  I did handle a Fenwick Eagle while at Cabela's, and liked the looks and feel of the rod.  No idea how sensitive it would be.

There are a ton of rods selling for $100 and less.  I wish you the best of luck narrowing your choice to just one.  :teeth:

FYI: my local Gander Mountain has Veritas' on sale right now for $50 after a $10 MIR. Not sure if it shows up on the website or not though.

The Mojo is a great rod in that price range and so is the ***. Just a heads up on the *** people with larger hands tend to have issues with the omens handle since its on the small side and can sometimes be uncomftorable
