Im gonna buy another because they are so good but was just wondering if this happens a lot. Quote
Super User MarkH024 Posted June 6, 2014 Super User Posted June 6, 2014 Email Strike King about it. Most likely they'll replace it for you. They have great CS there. Quote
PondHopper96 Posted June 6, 2014 Posted June 6, 2014 I've had quite a few of those crack on me, especially the bills. 1 Quote

Missourifishin Posted June 6, 2014 Posted June 6, 2014 I bought some used ones on ebay once. And one of them was split in the middle down the back. It kind of slowly sunk instead of floating. But it still caught fish like crazy. Quote
travis23 Posted June 6, 2014 Posted June 6, 2014 I have cracked a lot of them. Mostly the bills bust after a few hours of hard fishing. I just buy more. I tend to catch a few fish before they crack though!! Quote
Super User Catch and Grease Posted June 6, 2014 Author Super User Posted June 6, 2014 That wasn't the first fish I caught on it, it was probably the 20th-ish Quote
Super User rippin-lips Posted June 6, 2014 Super User Posted June 6, 2014 SK will replace them usually. Quote
NathanW Posted June 6, 2014 Posted June 6, 2014 Never had this happen with SK. I have broken so many Rapalas I couldn't count but only had one SK lure fill with water. Funny actually I broke a LC Pointer in my favorite discontinued color in half, super-glued it back together, and it still runs perfectly. Quote
akunk23 Posted June 6, 2014 Posted June 6, 2014 I've never had it split in half but I have had the treble hooks break off. Just one prong would rip off Quote
PersicoTrotaVA Posted June 7, 2014 Posted June 7, 2014 I guess I don't fish my KVDs that hard. Haven't had a problem with any of them, unless you call catching fish a problem. Quote
OntarioFishingGuy Posted June 7, 2014 Posted June 7, 2014 I have had a lot of the bills break. Starting to switch to Arashi's, better quality. Quote
Super User Catch and Grease Posted June 8, 2014 Author Super User Posted June 8, 2014 Well I just found them on sale at academy so I Bought 3 more of the chartreuse/black back ones Quote
Lip 'em! Posted June 8, 2014 Posted June 8, 2014 I had a 1.5 hairline crack down the middle on me. I realized it when it started slowly sinking one cast, due to some water being inside the bait. I almost threw it away, but i chose to keep it and put a special mark on it to keep it separate from the others. I have actually caught several fish on it even after the crack because i can let it slowly sink to a depth deeper than it would usually dive and then retrieve it, or pause it during a normal retrieve and it almost perfectly suspends with a super slow sink. I cant tell any difference in the action even with the water inside. The bait is unique now and produces in a new way so i am not going to complain! Quote
Super User AK-Jax86 Posted June 8, 2014 Super User Posted June 8, 2014 I sent them an email, hopefully they can replace it... I have heard some crazy stories about Strike King replacing products. Few people on my FB page have had similar issues and Strike King has went above and beyond. Seen stories of replacing the broken bait with more than one. One guy even got the whole set as in all colors of whichever bait he had a problem with, that's pretty amazing if you ask me hopefully you have a similar experience with them. Let us know what happens Quote

DarthHippie Posted June 8, 2014 Posted June 8, 2014 You did just email them Friday... I've broken a lot of the bills off like others. I personally wouldn't ever expect a bait company to replace a lure that developed a problem. The problems could easily have been caused by the user. Couldn't count how many times I've bounced a crankbait off rocks on shore casting onto rip-rap. Quote

Super User iabass8 Posted June 8, 2014 Super User Posted June 8, 2014 Their e-mail replies take a long time to get back. I would personally call. I've sent 3 crankbaits back to them at one time. I was given 3 extra in each color i sent in. There was somebody on here a year or so ago that had similar issues and this person got a ridiculous amount of extra crankbaits back. Quote
Super User Deleted account Posted June 8, 2014 Super User Posted June 8, 2014 Couldn't count how many times I've bounced a crankbait off rocks on shore casting onto rip-rap. Why is it always my copper shad LC RCs though!!! I expect my baits to fail, its like a badge of honor. Crankbaits usually last 1-3 seasons, sometimes less. specially around rocks or docks. I don't expect them to be replaced. Quote
