One of my several goals this year is to catch my first fish on a crankbait. i fish a river that varies between stained and clear from day to day. i bought several different colors: white/chartreuse back, red craw, chartreuse/black back, KVD neon bluegill, and firetiger. The only day i've been able to use them so far i only had the first two i listed and didn't have any luck. from what i can tell the forage is mostly craws, redeyes, and maybe bluegill (only caught one there in months of fishing it). any ideas?

Sexy Shad, Green Gizzard Shad and Tennessee Shad are all good colors for clear or stained water.  The black back chartreuse is best in stained to muddy water.  How fast is the current?

The whole area is fairly slow, about halfway across it can get pretty quick tho. It's a stretch just below an area of really swift current.

Try fishing it near that fast patch, near any rocks or trees. :)
