Most (meaning 80%) of the time I use hollow body. The brands I use are spro and booyah at least what I used last year. If it's solid it's the zoom frogs.

How do you know when they are feeding vs. reaction biting?

I could be wrong, but the way I identify a reaction bite from a feeding bite is in the following way: A feeding bite, I find happens when you can actually see the fish or the fishe approaches from a considerable distance and attacks your bait. For ex. when I see a wake off in the distance and the fish suddenly changes directions and slams my bait. A reaction strike, occurs when you are working your frog either soft or hollow around cover and bass strikes with in a confined space or area. I think in that situation the bass are holding in a small area and anything that suddenly passes within that space is going to get hit. Again... that's just my opinion, I could be way off on this one.
