ABW Posted June 5, 2014 Posted June 5, 2014 I think I'm going to start using a copolymer leader with braided line when fishing jigs and texas rigs. Is this a good idea? I'm thinking about using Yo-Zuri hybrid line. Has anyone used this line? Or should I just stick to fluorocarbon leaders? Quote
EvanT123 Posted June 5, 2014 Posted June 5, 2014 Yo zuri makes fine leader material. I use six and twelve pound test and it has worked very well along with eight and ten pound mono. I have not noticed much difference in leader material as far as sensitivity is concerned; only abrasion resistance and breaking strength. Quote
Super User Tywithay Posted June 5, 2014 Super User Posted June 5, 2014 Lot of folks use a mono leader as a shock absorber to keep their braid from snapping. It will work fine. Quote

Super User Raul Posted June 5, 2014 Super User Posted June 5, 2014 P-Line CXX works wonderfully as leader material, 12 lb test is almost indestructible. Quote
Super User bigbill Posted June 5, 2014 Super User Posted June 5, 2014 I been sticking with my copolymer line now for decades now. Now my fishing education and skills sometimes I go my own direction. I use a 17lb copolymer line on my main line on my Carolina rig/ worm rod setup. I vary my plastics fall rate by using a heavier test line than a lighter pound test. Right now it's 17lb test on the 24" leader. I have used 20#. This style of using a heavier test leader has been done before for decades. Quote

I'm thinking about using Yo-Zuri hybrid line. Has anyone used this line? Or should I just stick to fluorocarbon leaders? I use copoly and pure fluoro for leaders. Mostly use copoly - and P-Line Floroclear at that - over pure fluoro. Yo-Zuri is fine, I use the green, but realize the pound test + diameter are higher/thicker than other brands. As well, the heavier you get, you can still get coils if you use a long leader. I discovered just how coily 15lb YZH is with a 6' leader. Darn strong, though. P-Line Floroclear in 15 lb is my fave "heavier" leader. Plus I like P-Line's coloring better. Just my opinion. You'll be fine with YZH. 1 Quote
Super User BassinLou Posted June 5, 2014 Super User Posted June 5, 2014 When i use leaders, all I use is Yozuri. It's good line, cheap, gets the job done well. Quote
GADawgs Posted June 5, 2014 Posted June 5, 2014 I use Yo-Zuri 12# a lot and have not had any issues Quote
