CYP Posted June 4, 2014 Posted June 4, 2014 I have two of these reels already (Crank, treble hooks & Frog and Jig) thinking about buying another one for my wacky rig, texas right. These are not really light baits but wondering how you guys feel this reel would handle it. I think OK but would like some other opinions. Thanks! Quote
IAY Posted June 4, 2014 Posted June 4, 2014 It will do fine job if you are talking about 1/4th oz things, especially if you spool it lightly with 8 lb line. If you want to go below 1/4th oz, you could always get bearing upgrade from ZPI or Hedgehog Studio to help with the lighter finesse stuff. You also want a medium light or light rod with fast action to help throw the lighter things. Quote

I also figure it will be OK but just needed to double check some opinions. I have a spinning set up Stradic Ci4+ but Im not thrilled with the casting distance. Maybe its the rod GL2 JWR I dont know. bass1980 Posted June 4, 2014 Posted June 4, 2014 You'll be just fine with the ci4+ and weightless wacky rigs. I would recommend a 7-7'2 medium action rod though. Quote
bootytrain Posted June 4, 2014 Posted June 4, 2014 I think you will be fine but there is a shallow spool option coming out soon. another suggestion is get the new Metanium. It can handle 3/16ths quite easily and should go lower than that with the right rod and line. Quote

I don't think it's you're rod.. My .02 Quote

IAY Posted June 4, 2014 Posted June 4, 2014 Also, you can get the Kattobi Air Bearing 1030 kit from hedgehog studio as well for roughly 37 dollars total. It handles things below 1/4 oz very well on my Metanium 13, and I believe its the same bearing for Chronarch Ci4+. If you really want to spend the extra bucks, you can always get the shallow spool from Avail(on hedgehog studio website) which is additional 100 ish dollars. Quote
