I was an all oakley guy for years.  Then one day I was working a fly fishing expo and a guy from Smith Optics was there so I tried some on. I havent felt the same about Oakley lenses ever since. The Smith Optics sunglasses opened my eyes to a whole new world, give em a shot.

My son has Oakleys because they are "in" and "cool". I have two pairs of Strike Kings that together probably cost 1/4 of the Oakleys and I don't notice a difference. In fact I think the Strike Kings are better on overcast days. To each his own.

I have both brands and I have tried both. My opinion is I like costas much better. My eyes are sensitive to sun. I wore Oakley for 3 months before getting my Costas. After I got my costas I left the oKleys in my boat as a back up because costas were better for my sensitive eyes and I think they are better as far as seeing in water and eye protection.

I would buy a pair of Maui Jim's over either one of them.

I've said this before. Costa del mar makes the best sunglasses in the world. The G series are made of glass not plastic, but they offer plastic as well. What makes them superior than any company is the patents that they have. They have a patent that blocks the yellow light so that makes you see better and have less fatigue on you eyes. So that makes other companies automatic prone to quality to costa's. I had jims, oakleys, and wiley x. their no where near to the quality of costa's
