I was looking to maybe pick one up on their fathers day sale. My other choice was to buy a Berkley lightning rod. Is one better than the other? Quote
robster80 Posted June 3, 2014 Posted June 3, 2014 id get the tourney trail. i may pick one up myself. ive never fished one tho but have always read theyre really good rods for the price and cabelas puts em on sale at real good deals from time to time Quote
Paulasaurus Posted June 4, 2014 Posted June 4, 2014 I have a medium Tourney Trail spinning rod in 6'6" and while it's no where near as sensitive as my *** black its solid and predictable and has pulled in tons of bass over the years I've had it. For the price it's a decent rod. I also have a Fenwick Silverhawk casting rod that I'd rate better than the Tourney Trail. Cabelas usually has those on sale and are well worth the look in that price range. Good luck! Quote
boostr Posted June 4, 2014 Posted June 4, 2014 I have it in the EVA split grip version 7' H/F I'm gonna use for froggn', swim baits, flippn'. It's a nice rod for the money. I think I got it on sale for like 48 bucks in thier Bargain Cave. Quote
dp2826 Posted June 4, 2014 Author Posted June 4, 2014 I think I'm going to get one. At this point I really don't know the difference rods. But sounds like this one won't be a bad one to start with. Thanks Quote
SCangler91 Posted June 4, 2014 Posted June 4, 2014 I'd almost wait until the Tournament ZX rods go on sale again. About a month ago they were on sale for $70 (regularly $100) and they are a much better rod than the Tourney Trail. Now if you need something now, go ahead an go for it. Quote
dp2826 Posted June 4, 2014 Author Posted June 4, 2014 Kind of do need one now. The one I am currently using was a freebie that has the tip broke off. Quote
Djman72 Posted June 5, 2014 Posted June 5, 2014 Tourney trail rods are solid for the price point. Its worth the money, and Berkley shock rods are good too. i own one but I feel the Tourney Trail is a better value. You can pm me if you have any questions between the two. Quote
Hogsticker Posted June 5, 2014 Posted June 5, 2014 Aren't the fish eagle 50 rods on sale for 60 bucks? These are much lighter and crisp, with a thinner less moderate blank. I was playing with all Cabelas rods last weekend. The guides were all sloppy and crooked, but whatever Quote
Super User Crestliner2008 Posted June 5, 2014 Super User Posted June 5, 2014 I've been using a 6' Tourney Trail, in light action, for drop shotting for many years. Great little rod. I have longer rods now, of different manufacture, but I keep coming back to this sweet little rod. Great action. Quote
dp2826 Posted June 5, 2014 Author Posted June 5, 2014 I just picked one up. They are on sale for $40. I had some cabelas gift cards to use. Quote
