Michael F Posted June 3, 2014 Posted June 3, 2014 So i sent back my revo winch to the store and on thursday and they are going to call me about what reel i want to exchange the winch for, and im stuck between diawas crazy cranker and shimanos chronarch 150 cI4+. All i really want to know is does the crazy cranker have any backplay in the handle as well as the chronarch cI4+? I really can't stand play in my reels and is something i cant overlook. Quote
Super User F14A-B Posted June 3, 2014 Super User Posted June 3, 2014 I like my shimanos... To a point... I think that you will love the crazy cranker.. The zillions with a good 4 bearing handle are Awesome.. 7.1 my personal fave! That's my pick over the ci4+ ! Crazy cranking.. Baby!!!! Quote
Super User aavery2 Posted June 3, 2014 Super User Posted June 3, 2014 The Daiwa Zillion is about as much of a proven commodity as you can find. Nothing short of great. The rumor is that Daiwa will discontinue the Zillion line in favor of a new T-Wing reel, which may lead to steep discounts on remaining Zillion stock. While the Chronarch line itself is very proven the new CI4 model is redesigned and has only had a short amount of very positive testing. If handle back play is that important to you, I would not recommend the Shimano, as this has been a know situation in almost every Shimano reel produced over the last decade, as referenced in the response from the Shimano representative it is an acceptable tolerance and a trade off for better corrosion resistance. Delaware Valley Tackle Posted June 3, 2014 Posted June 3, 2014 The ABU A/R is usually pretty positive. An end of season cleaning probably would have corrected it if it didn't drive you crazy in the meantime. The Crazy Cranker is a nice reel, typical of Daiwa. The downside is that Daiwas are a little more expensive than comparable competing models. 1 Quote
Michael F Posted June 3, 2014 Author Posted June 3, 2014 I dont mind paying a little bit more for the daiwa, but if the a/r can be fixed or swapped for a more tighter one Ill deff go back to the winch. As for the play between the handle and gearbox, if very thin shimming washers in the correct location will fix that, then I think going back to the winch will work for me and save me a few bucks.
