PondHopper96 Posted June 3, 2014 Posted June 3, 2014 I know it really comes down to personal preference, but I'd like to hear what you guys like to throw on the spit shot! Thanks! Quote
Super User Raul Posted June 3, 2014 Super User Posted June 3, 2014 85 percent of the time I fish a soft plastic bait it's a 6-7 inch straight tail worm, so 85 percent of the time I fish on a split shot rig you'll see a 6-7 inch straight tail worm. Quote
Super User WRB Posted June 3, 2014 Super User Posted June 3, 2014 The split shot rig has been around forever, Dick Trask brought it to tournament bass fishing. Dick used small Flutter Craft* 5" curl tail worms with light wire worm hooks. Today I fish this rig modified using the mojo Jo style slip sinker with a glass bead as a stopper; the slip shot rig. 4" to 6" straight or curl tail Roboworms or Iovino worms are my main choice with reapers as the second choice. Tom * PM for a source for Flutter Craft worms. Quote
Super User ChrisD46 Posted June 3, 2014 Super User Posted June 3, 2014 WRB : What do you think of a "slip shot" rig comprised of a small 1/8oz ~ 1/4oz stainless steel egg sinker , bead and swivel used on 8lb. line spinning tackle ? More like a ultralight C- Rig ...how would you use or modify above ? Quote
Super User SPEEDBEAD. Posted June 3, 2014 Super User Posted June 3, 2014 I like to use Water Gremlin Bull Shot weights for split shot rigs. Quote
cajunpapi Posted June 3, 2014 Posted June 3, 2014 Use split shot with wacky trick worm and fluke. Get better casting and control of bait. Quote
Big Swimbait Posted June 5, 2014 Posted June 5, 2014 I like to use Water Gremlin Bull Shot weights for split shot rigs. A big +1 on this. The Bull Shot won't kink or crimp fluro! Quote

There is a good transparent plastic swivel (Aquateck) available that would be interesting to try on a finesse C-rig, still needs 3 knots.Tom Quote
Super User ChrisD46 Posted June 5, 2014 Super User Posted June 5, 2014 Thanks Tom - what weight mojo sinkers with your slip shot set up ? Quote
