raoka Posted June 5, 2014 Posted June 5, 2014 I always close my bails by hand. never with the spinning reel handle. Read some where that this was a good thing? from what I heard it gives a a slight twist in the line and doesnt place the line on spool in a tight fashion creating those loopy messes on your reel suddenly. like some line popping out behind the line on top if that makes sense Quote
bassin is addicting Posted June 5, 2014 Posted June 5, 2014 yes...always close the bail manually....it does make a difference in line twist...and loops.. 1 Quote
Super User K_Mac Posted June 5, 2014 Super User Posted June 5, 2014 I've already given my endorsement of the President spinning reel, but I will add my $.02 on closing the bail manually. Manually closing the bail while lifting the rod tip slightly to remove any loose line and feathering the line with my index finger to stop it as the bait touched down before reeling changed fishing for me. I had always used the crank to engage the reel and hated spinning reels because of line management issues. While line twist can still be an issue with some baits, most of the time I am now problem free. 1 Quote
Super User F14A-B Posted June 5, 2014 Super User Posted June 5, 2014 Closing the bail by hand, also allows the user to feather the cast, as well as stopping you're bait on a dime.... It's a natural move in that after a couple years .. I just found myself doing it! It will help you.. In a few different ways! Quote
sofarfrome Posted June 5, 2014 Posted June 5, 2014 I own two. A 6935 and a 6930. The best $100 I have ever spent on spinning reels. Quote
