MassBass Posted June 2, 2014 Posted June 2, 2014 This season i have decided to make chatterbaits a staple in my small kayak tackle bag, along with spinnerbaits, tubes, and other single hook stuff. My experience this year with my chatterbait is that this is a big fish bait. However i don't want to completely cull out smaller bass from my fishing. I read in an old magazine that smaller fish are intimidated by the bladed jig. I have been using the 1/2 once white cahtterbait but i also got a 1/4 once white bait that i haven't used yet. I also got a 5/8 once chatterbait pro and that thing is huge, especially with a swimbait trailer on it. Im gona throw that thing for hawgs. Back in i think '06 i bought a chatterbait because of all the "chatter" at that time about the lure. I caught a small bass on it, but i don't remember what size that lure was. Am I gona catch numbers throwing a chatterbait? Quote
dday07 Posted June 2, 2014 Posted June 2, 2014 i have friends who have switched out the skirt from a 1/4oz. to a small minnow softbaits and caught some numbers of bass on it. Quote
georgeyew Posted June 2, 2014 Posted June 2, 2014 Sure, under the right conditions. I had my best day ever with a chatterbait....19 bass in about 3 hours. Quote
Big Fish Rice Posted June 2, 2014 Posted June 2, 2014 Yes, but I think you're spot on...they're generally known for bigger bass. For whatever reason it may be, but I've had days where I caught numbers. I just prefer the days where it's quality > quantity Quote
