Super User Choporoz Posted June 2, 2014 Super User Posted June 2, 2014 Where's the Kelley Boat Blue Book?? I've been 'casually' looking for my first boat for some time now. It's crazy the range of asking prices you come across. Now that I've found one that I'm interested in a second look, I don't know how to begin to value it. (It is a 2008 Tracker Pro Team 190TX with 40 hours on the motor.) Also, aside from Craigslist, do you suggest any 'decent' used boat web classifieds web sites? Thanks! Quote
Super User Jig Man Posted June 2, 2014 Super User Posted June 2, 2014 NADA will give you an average retail value if you list all of the components on the unit. Be sure to check and see if the motor and or trailer are listed or if they are separate. Quote
Super User Choporoz Posted June 3, 2014 Author Super User Posted June 3, 2014 Thank you! Only problem now is that I'm a LOT more excited about that boat. Might have to take a test drive this weekend. Quote
Tim Kelly Posted June 3, 2014 Posted June 3, 2014 If you've been looking around for a while you'll have a feel for what comes up at what prices. If this one feels right to you, at a price you can afford then buy it. With secondhand boats there are so many variables you just have to go with your gut. If the boat seems well maintained, low hours on the motor etc, it will probably be priced higher than the same boat that is tired looking, so it's up to you whether the price reflects this enough for you to buy it. If you haven't been looking at secondhand boat adverts then you are buying blind and whether it's fairly priced or not is a lottery. Quote
Super User Choporoz Posted June 3, 2014 Author Super User Posted June 3, 2014 Thanks, Tim. I've been looking at adds and dealers off and on for three years, but only seriously for last couple months. However, this one is more boat than I'd been considering previously and had no good idea how to value it. The sign says $11K, the owner says $10, but sounds like he's willing to work down from that. Older guy who has only put it in the yard on a sleepy highway with a sign - I haven't seen it on Craigslist or any other listings yet. Quote
Tim Kelly Posted June 3, 2014 Posted June 3, 2014 http://www.ebay.com/itm/Bass-Tracker-Fishing-Boat-Pro-Team-190-TX-with-Mercury-25-Hp-4-stroke-and-Traile-/251543981178?forcerrptr=true&hash=item3a91308c7a&item=251543981178&pt=Fishing_Boats This ones a 2010 but it's only got a 25hp on it and priced at 13K, so if the one you've seen is in good condition it sound like a good price. Super User slonezp Posted June 4, 2014 Super User Posted June 4, 2014 Check NADA, basic electronics and trolling motor add zero value to the boat. If you find something close to the price you think it's worth, I wouldn't hesitate to start negotiations 25-30% below the asking price. Quote
