newbie here1 trying to get in on a deal before its gone but want to make sure i get whats best suited for me. ok, so i have been fond of the ugly stik's i have.

i purchased an abu garcia ambassadeur 5000 used, works great, its got 15lb mono (150 yards i believe) and i would like to keep it that way, i was looking around and seen that shakespeares website actually has some uglystik's on sale/clearance... and that they have free shipping with today the last day.

i would like to get one today to utilize these deals, as they would be better then i can find anywere else.

the rod/reel combo would be used for some bass and bluegill at my local lake... and maybe to use to catch some baitfish when pier fishing or shoreline in saltwater as well.

looks like a 6'6" casting rod that was medium action and rated for 8-20lb test was one they had, would you suggest looking for a slighly smaller rod with a 15lb test limit? i believe they had some that were the same as this but a different length.

Can't tell you anything about that rod. But I like to use line that's somewhere in the middle of the range, so using 15# on a rod rated for 8-20 would be something I might do. But remember, that's just a personal preference and everyone has their own likes and dislikes.
