Pete-K Posted June 2, 2014 Posted June 2, 2014 Yes what an evening below Pickwick Dam this evening. We had early church and we have been camping below the dam. Put the boat in and fished 1 hour. Three fish best one 20 lbs. Not a bad evening if I have to say so myself.... Striper bass that is.. one 10 lb, a 12 lb and this one that pulled the scales down to 20 lbs. Pete Quote
Super User Darren. Posted June 2, 2014 Super User Posted June 2, 2014 You had me thinking it was a largie!! Great haul, though. Caught my first striper ever this year - 14 lbs even, where they don't even stock 'em. Fun fight! 1 Quote

Fun fight! I wish it had been a large mouth.. If so you would have heard me screaming from Tn. LOL We caught some this size around 1974 and TWRA was not even telling people they had stocked them here. But we started catching more and more so they let the cat out of the bag... Pete Quote

Super User F14A-B Posted June 2, 2014 Super User Posted June 2, 2014 Yea that's nice... We used to bust them stripers on Cumberland a few short years ago... Maybe the lake will return to its greatness one day! Meanwhile nice catch! 1 Quote
paangler13 Posted June 2, 2014 Posted June 2, 2014 Nice striper! What does a "big one" run in your neck of the woods? The PFBC stocks them in Raystown here in PA. Used to see some 30's and 40's. Now a 30 is pretty rare, but it does happen. A 20 lber is a big one now! Sounds like a great trip! Jim 1 Quote

Buddy and I hope to plan a trip on the upper Cumberland and try planer boards and big baits for them soon. Never fished for stripers. Nice striper! I know if some of the striper fisherman that knows how to catch them. Could get a few 50 lb or better here. I know of a few 40+ last year that was caught. And I hope to get a 50+ within the next month or so. Will start fishing deep water soon for them using 2 lb baits and planer boards and down riggers. 1 Quote
