MskSlyr Posted June 1, 2014 Posted June 1, 2014 Got a chance finally to hit the Columbia for Sturgeon today. Dozen fish landed with some decent hitting herring. 1 Quote
basser89 Posted June 1, 2014 Posted June 1, 2014 Congrats on getting out there to wrestle with them! How's the back holding up? Quote
Global Moderator Bluebasser86 Posted June 4, 2014 Global Moderator Posted June 4, 2014 Big sturgeon are for sure on my bucket list. Looks like a blast! Quote
MskSlyr Posted June 5, 2014 Author Posted June 5, 2014 I have been wanting to do it for years and finally got the chance. Even by Sturgeon standards ours were very middle of the road size wise, I was thrilled to check this off my list. I tried for years to convince Basser to go but he likes to stick with his comfort zone. Bluebasser if it is on your list I say go for it if you get the chance. Quote

I've caught some shovelnose sturgeon in the river around here, but those are nothing compared to white sturgeon. Quote
SeasThyDay Posted March 6, 2018 Posted March 6, 2018 I don't have the equipment to fish sturgeon myself, so have been thinking of finding a sturgeon fishing guide for the Columbia River. Found this one linked below. Thoughts on what makes a good fishing guide for sturgeon? https://itsallgoodguideservice.com/ Quote
Super User Oregon Native Posted March 11, 2018 Super User Posted March 11, 2018 Wow..just saw this article. While growing up in Oregon have fished for and caught many of these awesome fish. Sure wish they were managed better but they are awesome. Have caught a couple up to 12' long and it's interesting to use a bait that is the size of a good bass for a tourney!! Where the Columbia dumps into the ocean was my favorite area but below Bonneville was the most exciting as the current rushing by your anchored boat was chilling to me. Fighting those big fish in that current really lets ya know what muscles you don't use much. Quote
