Super User Catch and Grease Posted June 1, 2014 Super User Posted June 1, 2014 Do you guys like this line? Its cheap so I might try some 15lb out because I want some flouro for a all around jig, soft plastics, spinnerbait setup. Or should I just stop being cheap and get some seguar invisx haha Quote

Or should I just stop being cheap and get some seguar invisx haha I LOVE this line. I use 15lb a lot -- as leader material only. I also use Yo-Zuri Hybrid, but like this line quality much more. Quote
J33wolf Posted June 1, 2014 Posted June 1, 2014 I love it. Spool it up and spray a little KVD line and lure conditioner on it and it casts great. Quote
Super User ChrisD46 Posted June 1, 2014 Super User Posted June 1, 2014 At a minimum , I would plan to use the 12lb ~ 15lb. Fluoroclear as a C-Rig leader ...Might be the best of both worlds (fluoro / mono) in that application . Quote
Super User Catch and Grease Posted June 1, 2014 Author Super User Posted June 1, 2014 Do you guys not like using this as a main line? I really don't like leaders except for braid. I'd rather have a flouro that's good for a main line so I don't have to tie leaders. Quote

I'd rather have a flouro that's good for a main line so I don't have to tie leaders. For me, I have used it fully spooled, but I just don't like line management and I don't like using line conditioner to compensate for coiling, etc. All my reels, casting and spinning, have braid for mainline. I have 100% confidence in my braid-to-leader knot. I use either a uni-to-uni knot, or my favorite, an Albright knot with 8-17 wraps up, and 6-10 wraps back down. Tie it cleanly, don't overlap, moisten well, cinch it down and strenght-test it. Then snip the tag ends tightly. Use a dab of superglue if you feel you need it. I never worry about the leader knot any more. Quote
Super User Catch and Grease Posted June 1, 2014 Author Super User Posted June 1, 2014 I don't worry about my leader knots ethier they just are a pain to tie in my little Jon boat... Quote
CTGalloway21 Posted June 1, 2014 Posted June 1, 2014 I used both it and the CX at the same time and had more problems and breaks with the Fluorocarbon. It seems to be weaker at the same lb test as CX. If I run flouorclear now I always bump up my test. If I want 15, I use 20, etc. Quote
J33wolf Posted June 1, 2014 Posted June 1, 2014 I use it as my main line on a Shimano Symetre 2500. It seems to cast the best for me. I have tried Invizx and Seguar Red Label and the P-Line seems to have worked best for me. That's just my opinion. Quote
Super User Tywithay Posted June 1, 2014 Super User Posted June 1, 2014 This line works well as a main line, though it does have some memory. It is not a fluorocarbon though, not sure where you got that. It's a monofilament line, just has a resin coating on the outside. They claim it's as clear as fluorocarbon, and it may be, but it has every bit as much stretch as a regular mono. Quote
Super User Catch and Grease Posted June 1, 2014 Author Super User Posted June 1, 2014 Oh I thought it was flourocarbon, my mistake. Do you guys think its got a good sensitivity? Quote
Super User Tywithay Posted June 1, 2014 Super User Posted June 1, 2014 Not as much as a premium fluorocarbon, but it's as sensitive as a stretchy fluoro like Invizx or other copolymers. Quote
Super User SirSnookalot Posted June 2, 2014 Super User Posted June 2, 2014 You haven't indicated whether it's for b/c or spinning use. I have a lot of experience with this line, used 20# for offshore on conventional, has dome on spinning too. Strength was never an issue, many fish well over 50# caught using this line. Haven't used a conventional reel in a long time, it's all spinning whether it's freshwater, inshore and offshore and braid. I do use the line as leader for both fresh and inshore fishing, I like it just fine. As a leader there isn't much of a stretch issue. Quote
Super User Catch and Grease Posted June 2, 2014 Author Super User Posted June 2, 2014 For baitcasting use. Quote
