ThatZX14Fella Posted June 9, 2014 Posted June 9, 2014 I haven't been catching much out of the pond I go to either. I think the problem I am having is that the bass in the pond I go to like to hit worms and I've been trying spinners, buzzbaits, frogs, etc. I've been trying to keep on topwater because anytime you go past 3 feet it's nothing but moss. NorthFloBassin Posted June 10, 2014 Posted June 10, 2014 Work sqaurebills, worms and spinnerbaits in the tree tops. When it's mid day and hot rig up a carolina rig and bottom bump the pond around the dam in the deep part unless you know where the humps are then get a deep diving crank bait, Storm Wiggle Wart are killer, they run about 10 feet and for a deeper running bait try a Norman dd20, they run about 18ft but if you use mono you can get them in the 15 ft range which is the most depths of ponds. gnuisance Posted June 10, 2014 Posted June 10, 2014 Cast a frog to the shoreline and hop it into the water. twitch twitch......BAM Quote
Nelson Wormefeller Posted June 10, 2014 Posted June 10, 2014 I have been using wacky rigged natural color 4" GULP crawlers at a pond I fish, and have had great luck so far. In fact, caught my personal best last weekend while out on my kayak, fishing around the lily pads. Quote
Super User Master Bait'r Posted June 10, 2014 Super User Posted June 10, 2014 For me, ponds mean working cover as few are deep enough for the full monty. Pads, weeds, laydown... So I usually reach for some kind of frog in the muck and either some finesse plastics or squarebills/buzzbaits where it's open. If there's deep points or shelves, I'll drop shot mostly. Ponds you can keep it pretty simple though, which is great when you're fishing from a kayak like I am. Quote
