fisherrw Posted May 31, 2014 Posted May 31, 2014 Looking for a swimbait reel in between 100 and 200 bucks. Any suggestions? Quote
Big Swimbait Posted May 31, 2014 Posted May 31, 2014 I use the Lew's BB-2Z & have had zero issues since I've had it. Quote

CTGalloway21 Posted June 1, 2014 Posted June 1, 2014 for bigger ones - over 2 ounces, I do not throw those on my regular bass reels. It will wear them out over time. I use a Revo Toro and a Revo Toro NACL. Some people use Shimano Cardiffs and the larger Daiwa Lexas. They are just better geared. Also I have a Abu 6500c3 I use. don't get the C4, it has weaker gears. Quote
livetofish28 Posted June 1, 2014 Posted June 1, 2014 The Lew;s Super duty is what I chuck mine with tight lines Andrew Quote
Super User Fishes in trees Posted June 1, 2014 Super User Posted June 1, 2014 Budget an extra $50 or so and get a Curado 300E. What you need is a large capacity, low profile reel that will last forever. The Curado fits that bill. Quote
Super User F14A-B Posted June 1, 2014 Super User Posted June 1, 2014 Shimano curado 300D,older model,or E newer model amazing reel so overlooked in my opinion! It's capable of meeting a multitude of uses.. Not just heavy baits but also cut/ live bait presentations... Deep cranks are easy work for it. I love this tank... 10.2 oz but fishes easily.. 29 Ipt! That's pretty fast! Just a great reel that lasts, and last.... You fish one for a bit.. You won't look back.. Never wonder if you have enuff reel. If these had been around in the 80's? I would of had a fleet of them.. I have even flipped with these in Florida ... I know it's a bit more than you wanna spend... Maybe find one used.... It's awesome! Good luck ,whatever you do...... VolFan Posted June 4, 2014 Posted June 4, 2014 Save your money, Cardiff 300. Good luck finding a Curado 300D, but also a great reel. Quote
Super User F14A-B Posted June 4, 2014 Super User Posted June 4, 2014 Lexa would be my 2nd choice in a reel that size.. They (diawa) are making a 400 size now.. I have not used it but I have the curados & Cardiff. The Cardiff is cheap... And you get what you pay for. My brother uses the Lexa and we fight all the time!! Lol!! It's all in fun! Yea he sent his off once.. And since then no problem. Quote
Global Moderator Bluebasser86 Posted June 5, 2014 Global Moderator Posted June 5, 2014 I throw mine on a 300E Curado and couldn't be happier. You can find them on Ebay for less than $200 with free shipping like I did. 1 Quote
Super User Crestliner2008 Posted June 5, 2014 Super User Posted June 5, 2014 Old school here. I'd recommend an Ambassadeur 6500-C. Been tossing musky/striper baits with this reel for many, many years. Bullet proof, casts great and very cost effective. And you'll be able to pass it down to your grand kids. EDIT: Load it with 25# test Triple Fish monofilament. Quote
