I've accumulated quite a few of these huge things and I just can't seem to come up with an adequate storage solution.

I've taken Plano boxes and cut the dividers out.  Decent enough storage, but hard to get a clean cut along the bottom of the box.  The remaining plastic tends to leave impressions in the plastic (IMO creating a weak spot).

I've tried leaving them in their packages, but I end up messing up at least one package every other trip.

What do you do?

Other than looking like a terrorists if you ever get pulled over and searched, I would think making little tubes out of pvc pipe with caps on the ends would work great, label them and put them in a gym bag or something to keep them from rolling around. Saw Mike Long on Hank Parker a couple weeks ago. Long was showing him alot of his swimbaits. He had them in clear pipes with plugs on the end. Which gave me the idea.

Hey Cappy, got any special kind of emotional attatchment to that tail-less swimbait or is it some sort of secret weapon ?

 ;D That's a Matt Lures bluegill.

Made 5 casts with it. Felt a solid "THUMP" on the fifth cast but nothing stuck. You see the result.  >:)

I had half of a GYCB Double Tail Grub glued on for a while. It actually looked decent. I did consider that a secret weapon.  :)

I know what you mean, been there, done that ...... there you are castin n 'swimmin the bait, you feel the thump, allow the fish to mouth the bait, set the hook and suddenly you are reeling in HALF the bait  >:), happened to me 3 times ( and it 's going to happen again  ::) ); don 't know what bugs me more, not knowing what hit the bait, not catching anything or spending 60 dollars in 3 now useless baits, dang I don 't mind them ripping the bait but only if they left the tail attached to it I would be more pleased ... at least you still have something to glue again.

Lubing the baits helps this problem alot. I have also done this but usualy its when I was too lazy to put the lube on. I know it can still hapen but it does help

Or if you aren't a rich man and you aren't creative just throw them into one of the deep plano boxes. Model 3730.

Those are what I use and I haven't had any major problems with the baits becoming deformed.

Burley,

Be careful where you keep your lubes stored. The wife is still mad about the mix up with the smelly jelly. ;D

I can imagine.  I got one whiff of the 3x strong baitfish and couldn't get it out of my nose for two days.  ;D
