Super User Tuckahoe Joe Posted August 1, 2014 Super User Posted August 1, 2014 Don't fish for bluegills often but if I were going to, there's only one spot I'd go. In the spillway below the dam at Smithville Lake here in MD there are hundreds of them constantly at any given time. Anytime of the day or year, you can go there, tie on 2 hooks, bait them with pieces of night crawlers, and catch doublers all day long on every cast. Literally every single cast without exaggeration. I've never kept any and most of them are small (although you can catch some nice ones) but if you go there with a ultralight rod and some 2 # line it sure is a lot of fun. Quote

That's a nice haul for the fish fry for sure !! 1 Quote
BasshunterJGH Posted August 2, 2014 Posted August 2, 2014 My brother and I caught over 100 bluegill a couple weeks ago in hastings ne. It was pretty much a fish every cast, if your bait didn't get picked off! We could've caught more if we stayed all day we only fished for a few hrs. Quote
