So I have decided to take a quick trip up to lake Erie next week on 06/05-06/06.  I will be fishing out of the Sandusky Bay area. This will be my first trip to Lake Erie, so I am looking for suggestions/tips.

Thus far, I have heard that the western basin of the lake does not produce the smallmouth that the eastern basin does. I have also read that Sandusky Bay and the East and West harbors to the north of the bay provide some outstanding LMB numbers. I only have about a day and a half to fish so unfortunately I'm limited to where I can invest my time. I'd love to chase some Smallmouth on the main lake but it's tough to pass up the potential for a 60+ LMB day (or so they claim) in the Bay area. Not to mention I have little understanding of how to find smallies offshore in Erie. Any opinions/tips are welcome.

I do pretty well out there for LMB. My aunt has a cottage out that way with a slip in Marble Head. That is a little west of where you will be. You can catch smallish to but I usually go for the LMB when I'm down there. If your having no luck you can always take the ferry or jet express to the bay and party down. There is actually some good fishing off the iands also. I have done pretty well around pele island.

Thanks for the response, Hatrix. Where do you recommend for LMB fishing there?
