GADawgs Posted May 30, 2014 Posted May 30, 2014 I just had 2 rods delivered that I ordered. One is an *** Black 7' MF spinning and the other is a Powell Diesel 765 MHXF. Both rods, about 2/3 of the way up the rod are slightly bent. When I say slightly I mean somewhere between 1/16" to 1/8" off center at the tip of the rod. Is this an issue I should be concerned with or is it a non issue? Thanks for the help! Quote

Super User Tywithay Posted May 30, 2014 Super User Posted May 30, 2014 Not uncommon for blanks to have a slight curve. Won't hurt anything. At the same time, you paid money for a proper rod, so if it bugs you I'd ask for replacements. Quote

It is easiest to see when I am not looking down the side with the guides on it. I castes the diesel and everything seemed fine. I just wanted to make sure that it wouldn't cause excessive wear or any other issues. Quote

Hootie P.S. caught bass yesterday with a rod that just slightly veers off to the right,from the top. Like you said, about a 1/16". Quote
Super User S Hovanec Posted May 31, 2014 Super User Posted May 31, 2014 I can count on one hand how many blanks I've built on that were dart straight. Almost all blanks have a slight curve to them. Most of what I've used has been between 1/4" and 3/4" out from butt to tip when spun. If its bent in a couple different directions, then send it back. Companies are usually good about building on straightest axis, but some just be built however. Quote
