WVbassin87 Posted May 30, 2014 Posted May 30, 2014 I work at Walmart, just went to lunch and grabbed 2 different size Hula Poppers and a Rebel crank for $1.50 each. usually poppers are almost $6.00 Quote
Super User Catch and Grease Posted May 30, 2014 Super User Posted May 30, 2014 Good deal! My Walmart doesn't have much fishing stuff but I've been to other Walmarts near lakes and rivers that carry more tackle that can have great deals sometimes... Quote
Mr. BattleArmor Posted May 30, 2014 Posted May 30, 2014 Thats a great deal. But I have actually noticed how much cheaper Walmart is than BPS especially. I get all my saltwater lures at Walmart for almost 50% off compared to BPS. And topwater frogs are cheaper there too. Quote
hatrix Posted May 30, 2014 Posted May 30, 2014 I picked up a bunch of that stuff last weekend. They had boxes full of heddon rebel and coton cordell for $1.50. I actually grab lots of little stuff like baby spooks cranks and poppers. I realized I do not have any tiny lures so I stocked up. Quote
crazyjoeclemens Posted May 30, 2014 Posted May 30, 2014 My local Wal-Mart had the same deal going on - a couple boxes of lures marked $1.50 each. I assumed it was a box full of chinese knock-offs, but it turned out to be some decent stuff. I stocked up on Hula Poppers, Rebel Pop Rs & minnows, Jitterbugs, and some Zara Puppies. There were even a few packages of Yum brand curly tail grubs. I usually use the plain 'ol Mr. Twisters, but for $1.50, I figured they'd do just fine. Quote
starcraft1 Posted May 30, 2014 Posted May 30, 2014 Ours has Creme worms for $1.99 - 8 packs also senko type baits same price. Been using their worms for 40 yrs. and the stick (senko) baits fall the same and catch fish! Humm $1.99 vs. 6.99 same amount just not as many colors to choose from. Quote
notevenanibble Posted May 31, 2014 Posted May 31, 2014 got a few packs of yum beaver bug baits last weekend for cheap. the ones near lake hartwell have a good selection Quote
sparky241 Posted May 31, 2014 Posted May 31, 2014 The Walmart in Hammond's idea of clearance is to clear off the shelf and put it in the middle of the floor where it's in everyone's way 4 Quote
Super User everythingthatswims Posted May 31, 2014 Super User Posted May 31, 2014 Caught a 24" largemouth in march on the 2.5" rebel floater. It is a ridiculously good cold water bait, something about the way it runs and rattles makes them REACT! I have fished it side by side with other tiny cranks (including much more expensive ones) and none of them are as good. I have caught them in a 1/2 frozen pond on that bait. The zara puppy is a killer bait too, smallies love them Quote
Chris9999 Posted May 31, 2014 Posted May 31, 2014 I love walmart fishing sections! Every time I go there that is the first section that I go to. I love seeing the packs of plastics that have a few missing so they are so much cheaper Quote
JLeon77 Posted May 31, 2014 Posted May 31, 2014 Always pick up a few things at Walmart when i am there for a great price. Check out their online selection, they have a lot of higher end stuff not available in stores. Especially if you are looking for reels. Quote

sparky241 Posted May 31, 2014 Posted May 31, 2014 The walmart in portage has decent sales.thanks, I'll have to remember that Quote
Super User bigbill Posted May 31, 2014 Super User Posted May 31, 2014 There's deals at Wal-Mart for sure. I do find it very odd the clearance stuff in January only to restock it in March? Quote
Smallie Seeker Posted June 3, 2014 Posted June 3, 2014 At the very end of winter almost all of the fishing gear at my local walmart goes on clearance. I was picking up some Ardent reel butter for half off and while in line the cashier told me that every so often they will take half off the clearance price for one day only. Had my eye on a Shimano Sahara that was clearence listed for $60. Sure enough I came in on the right day and got it for the ridiculously low price of $35. Paired it with a 7' medium Lightning Shock which was $15. That's $50 for a combo that if purchased at BPS would be $115 all day. I was a happy fisherman! Quote
Austin2697 Posted June 4, 2014 Posted June 4, 2014 At my walmart they were selling all strike king tungsten weights for $3 a piece Quote
airborne_angler Posted June 5, 2014 Posted June 5, 2014 Picked up some spinshot hooks for $1.00 a pack.Cleaned em out Quote
Basspro87 Posted June 5, 2014 Posted June 5, 2014 Rattle traps at walmart 4.50. Rattle traps at BPS 6.50. That's two dollars that I save and don't have to pay shipping Quote
speed craw Posted June 5, 2014 Posted June 5, 2014 I scour the soft plastic bin , I will routinely find yum craw papi for $ 1.50 normally $ 5-6 , have found other items misprinted in yum bags that are obviously not yum products for next to nothing . Another interesting thing not all walmarts stock the same stuff .. I have found some higher end stuff at some stores . Quote
Basspro87 Posted June 5, 2014 Posted June 5, 2014 Are there any other places anybody sees good deals like Walmart, or is walmart the best Quote
timsford Posted June 6, 2014 Posted June 6, 2014 I akways check the bargain bin at walmart. Ive found great deals on cranks and yum soft plastics and picked up many rapalas for 5 bucks apeice Quote
Big Swimbait Posted June 6, 2014 Posted June 6, 2014 My local one by DFW Airport has Trokar hooks, 10" Power Worms & an assortment of Zoom soft plastics & VMC hooks for $2.00 each. Quote
