speed craw Posted May 30, 2014 Posted May 30, 2014 I would suggest 6.1 - 6.4 , you can use a 5.41 or so on but at the end of the day you might have popeye arms so gear up on some spinach . 1 Quote
lunkerboss923 Posted January 29, 2022 Posted January 29, 2022 Squarebills aren't like a chatterbait or spinnerbait where you slow roll. I use a Shimano Curado MGL in a 7speed. It's perfect! I can use a jerkbait on it too. Love the versatility of a 7 speed. Quote

rtwvumtneer6 Posted January 29, 2022 Posted January 29, 2022 I use a 6.6:1 or a 6.8:1. All are between 26 and 28 IPT. Quote

Super User ChrisD46 Posted January 29, 2022 Super User Posted January 29, 2022 6:4:1 ... As Gerald Swindle says : "We're bass fishing - this ain't NASCAR" ! Quote
Mbirdsley Posted January 29, 2022 Posted January 29, 2022 I like mid 5’s gear ratio for my regular crank reels. I don’t throw square bills a lot but, I like being in the 6.4-6.8 gear range Quote
