I would suggest 6.1 - 6.4 , you can use a 5.41 or so on but at the end of the day you might have popeye arms so gear up on some spinach .

Squarebills aren't like a chatterbait or spinnerbait where you slow roll. I use a Shimano Curado MGL in a 7speed. It's perfect! I can use a jerkbait on it too. Love the versatility of a 7 speed.

High 6's+ plus for all my techniques, I can always slow down, but it's hard to speed up

I like mid 5’s gear ratio for my regular crank reels.  I don’t throw square bills a lot but, I like being in the 6.4-6.8 gear range
