could i use this reel for crankbaits?

Posted

The sx comes in 6.3:1 and a higher speed after that, if you want to fish a crank at that speed then thatd be fine. I use the Orra Winch for my cranks, I prefer the lower ratio for cranking. I can tell you that with the lower ratio and larger handle cranking with the winch is a breeze. I love mine.

The Orra's in casting and spinning are fantastic reels...You can get away with it for cranking, just be aware, but a 6:3 is ok unless your cranking all day long and I find that hard to do, rare, and boring..I try to avoid crankbaits as much as possible but they do work at times...Great reel. I just found them online at some tackle shop recdonditioned for $74 orra winch, and lew tournament was like $68....Pinnacle opitmus $100..I only grabbed the Orra 2x Winch, hopefully stay away from that Lews. I am good with the 24 baitcasters I have now, and 19 rods.
