dp2826 Posted May 30, 2014 Posted May 30, 2014 I am looking to buy a rod for a baitcaster. They are same price at Wal-Mart, not sure which to go with. I saw somewhere that the shock series is for braid? I don't think I will be using that to start off with. Would I still be ok with the Shock series or should I be looking at the regular Lightning Rod? Quote
fisherrw Posted May 30, 2014 Posted May 30, 2014 look for a castaway on sale they are much better Quote
Super User Tywithay Posted May 30, 2014 Super User Posted May 30, 2014 The shock has nicer guides. Either rod works with braid, mono, fluoro, or whatever. Quote
Super User OkobojiEagle Posted May 30, 2014 Super User Posted May 30, 2014 I believe the Shock series has more fiberglass blended into the tip of the rod to help compensate for the no stretch property of PE lines. The tip will be softer than the traditional Lightning Rod series. oe Quote
TorqueConverter Posted May 30, 2014 Posted May 30, 2014 I've had both rods. The Shock series are slower in action but equally powered to the regular LR. Think of them as more of a moving bait stick when compared to a regular LR. Quote
Super User MCS Posted May 30, 2014 Super User Posted May 30, 2014 I have a lightning, pretty nice rod for the price. I like it better than the shock. Quote
Mccallister25 Posted May 30, 2014 Posted May 30, 2014 The shocks are great for the price. I own two in the casting version, for plastics. Quote
